Job description

Flyspace Productions is a full service, woman-owned event management and production company headquartered in Pittsburgh, PA. We produce some of the largest festivals and live events in the region, in addition to numerous private, corporate, and community events. We provide our clients with support from a full-service, in-house Production Department that provides technical equipment including concert audio, lighting, truss, and rigging, as well as the largest fleet of Stageline Mobile Stages on the East Coast. Our Creative Department provides exceptional expertise in festival production, event planning, brand activations, and fine art installation.

Our team is expanding and we are seeking a Warehouse Associate to join our ranks. Warehouse Associates are versatile, entry-level professionals who support operations. They are responsible for executing assigned tasks efficiently and contributing to the success of their teams. This role is a full-time, non-exempt position that is eligible for overtime.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Generalist Support Across Focus Areas:
  • Assist with receiving, organizing, and staging inventory and equipment for projects
  • Participate in loading and unloading vehicles or trailers, ensuring proper documentation and handling
  • Perform basic maintenance or cleaning of equipment and tools under supervision
  • Task Execution and Initiative:
  • Complete assigned tasks efficiently and to organizational standards, whether in the field or at the warehouse
  • Take initiative to identify small issues or areas for improvement, resolving them or reporting to leadership
  • Assist with real-time problem-solving during operations, escalating challenges to Supervisors or Technicians as needed
  • Equipment and Resource Management:
  • Support the maintenance, organization, and transport of tools, equipment, and materials
  • Perform inspections of equipment before and after use, reporting any damage or irregularities
  • Assist in keeping workspaces clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards
  • Safety and Compliance:
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, organizational policies, and procedures during operations
  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required and encourage safe practices among peers
  • Participate in safety briefings and contribute to a culture of safety awareness
  • Team Collaboration and Growth:
  • Work collaboratively with Technicians, Supervisors, and other team members to achieve shared goals
  • Actively learn from more experienced team members to develop technical and operational skills
  • Foster a positive and supportive team environment, maintaining professionalism at all times
Reporting and Accountability:
  • To the Supervisor or Lead Technician:
  • Provide updates on task completion, equipment usage, and any challenges encountered during operations
  • Seek guidance or clarification as needed to ensure accuracy and efficiency in task execution

Project Role and Expectations:
  • Provide logistical and hands-on support for projects, ensuring tasks are completed on time and to specification
  • Assist with on-site operations, including setup, monitoring, and teardown of event or production elements
  • Communicate progress and challenges to Supervisors or Technicians to maintain alignment with project goals
Operational Role and Expectations:
  • Participate in daily operational workflows, such as inventory management, equipment staging, or facility organization
  • Perform basic maintenance or cleaning of equipment and tools to ensure operational readiness
  • Support improvements to operational processes by following instructions and suggesting ideas when appropriate

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Incumbent must sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time
  • Incumbent may operate in an office and/or warehouse setting, and be required to use a computer with keyboard, telephone or handheld mobile device for extended periods of time, and office machinery as needed
  • Incumbent will be required to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds, including event equipment such as tables, chairs, linens, audio, video, lighting, etc.
  • Incumbent must be able to read, see, hear, and speak English
  • Incumbent must be able to independently travel to off-site locations. Travel to off-site events will expose incumbent to weather conditions
  • Incumbent may be required to safely operate a scissor lift and forklift
Workdays and Shifts:
  • This is a full-time position
  • Willing to work a flexible schedule that may include long hours and irregular times, including weekends, nights, and some holidays
Education, Certification(s), and/or License(s) Required:
  • No advanced certifications are required, but basic training in safety practices or equipment use is beneficial
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to obtain scissor lift and forklift certification if not already certified
  • Ability to obtain DOT Med card if not already in possession. A DOT medical certification is not required; however, you will not be able to operate certain company vehicles without one
  • In accordance with certain event requirements, Child Protection Clearances may be required
Other Requirements:
  • 1-2 years of experience in a technical, operational, or event production role
  • Demonstrates reliability, initiative, and a strong work ethic
  • Ability to quickly learn new skills and adapt to various tasks
  • Knowledge of industry trends, best practices, and regulations related to event planning and management
  • Ability to act as a Crew Leader as needed
