Work Schedule

This position will work Monday - Friday, 8-hour shift (typically 7:30am-4:30pm).

What You'll Do As a Warehouse Assistant I

1. Perform all Receiving and Shipping functions as outlined in established procedures.
2. Receive Customer product through acceptance or unloading shipping container, including pallet breakdown and identifying box weights; process all applicable documentation accurately.
3. Coordinate staging of incoming Customer product by transferring or overseeing the transfer of product to the non-process storage locations safely and damage-free.
4. Inspect incoming or outgoing Customer product for damages and/or count discrepancies and report conditions as outlined in established procedures.
5. Maintain and submit warehouse reports depicting where products are staged within the facility.
6. Verify that all identified damages and/or count discrepancies have been reported and resolved.
7. Ensure shipment of product within shipping deadline by maintaining contact with Customer transportation personnel and with vendor and internal facility staff. Prepare product for shipment by retrieving Customer product from processed area and staging in shipping area; prepare accurate shipping documentation; load product into shipping trailers/containers or transfer small packages to delivery service.
8. Assist material handling activities to ensure timely receipt or shipment of Customer product.
9. Actively participate and support Lean and Safety initiatives and other directives.
10. Maintain facility aged inventory levels through evaluation and collaboration with production, planning, and quality teams.
11. Operate yard truck to move trailers, manage traffic congestion safely, and facilitate product flow into and out of the facility.
12. Contribute to team efforts by performing in accordance with all STERIS policies, GMP, Lean principles, and other directives; support higher management decisions; perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• Minimum of three (3) years of work experience, including at least two (2) years in warehousing.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in warehousing, shipping, and receiving (3 years)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs

Other Requirements

• Ability to work independently under general guidelines and supervision.
• Ability to navigate computer systems and STERIS Operational Data Management System.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and basic math skills (including decimals, ratios, rates, percentages). Ability to interpret charts.
• Effective interpersonal skills and adaptability to changing duties.
• Normal hearing range sufficient to hear alarms, horns, etc.
