Job summary

Harbin Lumber Company, Lavonia Lumberyard, Lavonia, GA, is seeking a Full Time Warehouse/Yard Assistant to load and unload trucks, pull orders, and maintain yard operations. Day shift, outdoor work in all weather. None required; HS diploma or GED preferred.

Occasional travel with driver to assist delivery may be required. Responsibilities include inventory counts, safe operation of material handling equipment, and ensuring shipments and pickups are accurate.

Qualifications

• Forklift operation skills and ability to pass the Forklift Operator Written Licensing Exam.

Responsibilities

• Unloading vendor trucks and storing incoming materials promptly.

Job Shift: Day

General Function: It is the responsibility of each employee of the Company to understand and promote the Company Mission Statement and Statement of Values while adhering to the Company Code of Conduct. The primary responsibility of this position is the loading and unloading of trucks, pulling orders, cleaning the yard and warehouse areas, and assisting customers.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

• Unloading vendor trucks
  • Receiving and unloading trucks.
  • Storing all incoming materials in proper location promptly.
• Inventory.
  • Assisting with inventory cycle counts.
  • Maintaining inventory in a neat and logical manner.
  • Ensuring no materials leave the yard or warehouse without a ticket.
  • Pulling orders for shipment.
• Safety.
  • Complying with Company safety policy.
  • Maintaining a clean, orderly, and safe work area.
  • Operating all material handling equipment in a safe manner.
  • Reporting all safety concerns immediately to the Warehouse and/or Yard Manager.
• Shipping.
  • Ensuring all shipments and customer pickups are done completely and accurately.
  • Loading all materials properly to allow a safe delivery.
  • Pulling orders for shipment as directed.
• General - As Harbin Lumber Company, Inc. is a group of locations each working individually and as a team, the Warehouse or Yard Assistant must be a team player and must develop positive working relationships with all location personnel, Outside Sales Representatives, and other Company employees.

Physical Requirements

Heavy lifting up to 100 pounds will be required on an occasional basis.

Working Conditions

The work is primarily outside work in all types of weather. On occasion, this Assistant may be required to travel with a driver to assist delivery at the job site.
