Reports To: Director of Operations or Plant Manager

FLSA Status: Exempt

Position Summary:

The Warehouse and Shipping Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of warehouse management, cold storage, inventory control, and outbound logistics at a high-volume beef processing facility. This leader will ensure the efficient, safe, and compliant movement of finished goods while driving continuous improvement in warehouse operations and shipping execution. The role is central to ensuring product integrity, customer satisfaction, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

Warehouse Operations

• Direct and manage day-to-day operations of cold storage and refrigerated warehouses, including receiving, storage, staging, and inventory management.
• Ensure accurate tracking and movement of finished beef products using ERP/WMS systems.
• Implement and maintain FIFO, product rotation, and proper lot tracking.

Shipping and Distribution

• Oversee the planning and execution of all outbound shipments (LTL, FTL, refrigerated, frozen), ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with cold chain requirements.
• Coordinate with transportation providers, brokers, and internal logistics teams to optimize freight costs and service levels.
• Ensure all shipping documentation (BOLs, COAs, export certs) is complete and accurate.
• Lead, coach, and develop warehouse and shipping team members (including supervisors, clerks, forklift drivers, loaders).
• Drive a culture of safety, accountability, and performance.
• Manage labor schedules, training, and productivity tracking.

Regulatory Compliance & Safety

• Ensure all warehouse and shipping practices comply with USDA, FDA, OSHA, and HACCP guidelines.
• Maintain proper sanitation, temperature monitoring, and pest control procedures.
• Support audits and inspections from regulatory bodies and third-party certifications (e.g., BRC, SQF).

Process Improvement & Strategy

• Identify and implement improvements in warehouse layout, material handling, and shipping workflows.
• Collaborate with production, quality, sales, and customer service to align outbound logistics with demand.
• Develop KPIs and reporting to track inventory accuracy, order fulfillment, and cost performance.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, operations management, logistics, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 7–10 years of experience in warehouse, logistics, or shipping leadership—preferably in beef processing and cold chain environments.
• Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and cold storage logistics.
• Proficiency with ERP/WMS systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar).
• Experience with export shipping (e.g., USDA export certification, international cold chain logistics) is a strong plus.
• Exceptional organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
• Ability to work in a cold, fast-paced, and compliance-driven environment.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to work in cold environments (28°F–40°F) for extended periods.
• Standing, lifting (up to 50 lbs), and operating in warehouse environments.
• Flexibility for extended hours or weekends as needed.
