Job summary

Sullivan County Community Hospital in Sullivan, IN is seeking a full-time Clerical position on the nursing unit. The role involves entering orders, coordinating with pharmacy, and maintaining census and chart accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Accurately inputs orders into computer.
• Sends copies of orders to pharmacy promptly.
• Maintains accurate census information.
• Keeps old and current charts in order.
• Assembles new charts and labels forms.
• Readies paperwork/chart for patient transfer.
• Prepares chart for medical records upon discharge or transfer.
• Maintains logbooks as requested.
• Sends forms to Physicians as required.
• Accurately flags charts with pertinent data (e.g., allergies).
• Handles incoming/outgoing communications on the unit.
• Relays phone messages to appropriate people.
• Directs visitors to patients.
• Communicates patient needs to appropriate persons.
• Coordinates and maintains a satisfactory physical environment on the unit.
• Notifies discharge/transfer to new rooms.
• Notifies Food & Nutritional Services of changes.
• Prepares charts for Physician Rounds as needed.
• Receives lab values and reports to nurses.
• Notifies relevant staff of stat/now orders.
• Orders requisition forms and chart forms.
• Assists in inventory as requested.
• Set up delivery tables using sterile technique.
• Post delivery break down and instrument count.
• Answers call lights.
• Ensure presence of prenatals and obtain as needed.
• Transport patients within/off unit as needed.
• Schedule 2-day follow-ups with doctor.
• Assist RN with patient care as needed.
• Provide nursery sitting.
• Obtain paperwork for birth certificates.
• Participates in orientation of new personnel.
• Participating in unit/hospital PI/QI as assigned.
• Puts up stock.
• Completes incident reports timely.
• Reports patient/family complaints as needed.
• Supports nursing by flexible scheduling.

• Notifies Patient Access of patient discharges and transfers to new rooms
• Notifies Food & Nutritional Services of menu changes, admissions and discharges
• Prepare all charts for Physician Rounds as needed
• Receives lab values over phone and reports to nurses as indicated
• Informs appropriate persons of stat and now orders
• Orders required requisition forms and chart forms
• Assists in inventory as requested
