Qualifications

• Able to perform 4–8 hours of outdoor physical labor.
• Transportation to Franklin Park office required.
• Own outdoor footwear, clothing, gloves and head covering.
• On-Call availability from October 15 to April 30; able to work long hours, weekends and holidays.
• Must be able to lift and/or move 50 pounds plus.
• Must provide a cell phone for clocking in/out and communication with supervisor.
• Vision abilities: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception.

Walk Laborer Overview

The Walk Laborer works with a team to keep high foot-traffic areas on the airfield safe and clear of ice/snow to allow continued airport operations. This includes keeping airport sidewalks and gate areas sage and clear of snow and ice. They will perform tasks that involve manual labor related to snow removal, such as shoveling, using a snowblower and spreading snow-melting chemicals. This work will be performed outdoors in winter weather and requires steady effort, dependability and communications with supervisors and crews. Rest breaks, snacks and warming opportunities during shifts will be provided.

Walk Laborer Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Shovel snow and/or operate snowblower to remove snow in designated areas

Walk Laborer Requirements Skills/ Experience

• On-Call availability from October 15 th to April 30 th , must be willing and able to work long hours, weekends and holidays
• Required to walk, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, lift, grasp, carry, push and pull
• Must be able to shovel snow for extended periods of time
• Must be able to lift and/or move 50 pounds plus
• Must provide own outdoor footwear (boots), clothing, gloves and head covering appropriate for outside conditions.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
