Job summary

Segula Technologies in the United States is seeking an experienced Automotive Trims Design Engineer with strong Siemens NX (UG NX) skills to design interior and exterior trim components. You will create 3D models, assemblies and 2D drawings for plastics parts and ensure manufacturability.

The role requires 5–10 years in automotive trims, proficiency in GD&T and close collaboration with CAE, tooling, and manufacturing teams to meet milestones and quality standards.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Design and develop automotive interior and exterior trim components using Siemens NX.
• Create and modify 3D models, assemblies and 2D manufacturing drawings.
• Work on instrument panels, door trims, center consoles and other trim parts.
• Apply plastic part design principles including draft angles, ribs and wall thickness.
• Perform packaging, fitment and interface checks with adjoining components.
• Ensure designs meet engineering specs, quality requirements and feasibility.
• Apply DFM and DFA principles during design.
• Understand GD&T and tolerance stack-up and engineering drawing standards.
• Incorporate engineering changes and maintain CAD revisions.
• Coordinate with CAE, tooling, manufacturing, quality and other teams.
• Participate in design reviews and resolve issues.
• Support tooling feasibility, mouldability, prototype development and validation.
• Meet project milestones and deliverables per customer requirements.

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Automotive Trims Design Engineer with strong hands-on expertise in Siemens NX (UG NX) for the design and development of automotive interior and exterior trim components. The candidate should have good knowledge of plastic component design, 3D modelling, 2D drawings, assembly design, and automotive product development processes.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Design and develop automotive interior and exterior trim components using Siemens NX.
• Create and modify 3D models, assemblies, and 2D manufacturing drawings.
• Work on components such as instrument panels, door trims, center consoles, pillar trims, headliners, bumpers, and other plastic trim parts.
• Apply plastic part design principles, including draft angles, ribs, bosses, wall thickness, and mounting features.
• Perform packaging, fitment, and interface checks with adjoining components.
• Ensure designs meet engineering specifications, quality requirements, and manufacturing feasibility.
• Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles.
• Understand GD&T, tolerance stack-up, and engineering drawing standards.
• Incorporate engineering changes and maintain CAD model revisions.
• Coordinate with CAE, tooling, manufacturing, quality, and other design teams.

Required Skills

• Strong understanding of plastic component design and injection moulding basics.
• Knowledge of GD&T, tolerance stack-up, and engineering drawings.
• Experience with DFM, DFA, packaging, and component integration.
• Good problem-solving, communication, and coordination skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience working with automotive OEMs or Tier-1 suppliers.
• Knowledge of automotive product development and engineering change management.
• Experience with Teamcenter or other PLM systems.
• Exposure to tooling feasibility, prototype builds, and design validation.
• Ability to work independently and coordinate with cross-functional teams.
