Job summary

Shining Mountain Waldorf School seeks a part-time High School Science Teacher to collaborate with the Leadership Team and School Director in developing a phenomenologically based science program emphasizing observation and experiments.

The role covers multiple blocks across Chemistry, Biology, and Physics, with 90-minute daily sessions and potential ancillary duties such as advising, clubs, and field trips within a collaborative, inclusive culture.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in education or specified subject area preferred.
• A minimum of four years of teaching experience.
• Waldorf teaching and and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
• A love for educating adolescents.
• Demonstrated ability to work well with students and colleagues, and an interest in active community engagement.
• A strong commitment to equity and inclusion.
• Demonstrated teaching capacity in experiential and project‑based learning.
• A commitment to continued learning, i.e., Waldorf and general educational trends, research‑based learning models, educational technology, curriculum development, learning standards, multicultural education, and current best practices.
• Organizational and computer skills essential.
• An ability to hit the ground running.

Responsibilities

• Teach High School Chemistry, Biology and Physics blocks as listed.
• Potentially advise students, lead clubs, chaperone field trips, and participate in faculty committees.
• Engage positively in the cultural life of the school and collaborate with colleagues to implementation of the science program.
