Mountain Laurel Waldorf School is seeking a dedicated Waldorf-trained First Grade class teacher for the 2027–2028 school year in New Paltz, NY. The role involves guiding students through the full Waldorf curriculum, maintaining the class life, and building lasting relationships with families.

Responsibilities include planning main lessons, developing annual plans, shaping daily rhythm, and coordinating with specialists.

Competenze

Waldorf grades certification completed or in progress.
Classroom teaching experience; full Waldorf class cycle preferred.
Commitment to ongoing professional development and study of anthroposophy.
Strong artistic and nature-based sensibilities.
Commitment to culturally responsive teaching and welcoming families.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work collaboratively.
Training or experience in a structured literacy program is a plus.

Mansioni

Plan and deliver the Waldorf main lesson curriculum for First Grade and beyond.
Develop and maintain annual and block-level lesson plans aligned with Waldorf standards.
Shape the rhythm of the school day with warmth and consistency.
Prepare written reports and hold parent-teacher conferences; host parent evenings.
Monitor students’ growth; collaborate with Pedagogical Coordinator and Carestreams Group.
Collaborate with subject teachers (Spanish, Mandarin, Handwork) for cohesive lessons.
Work with educational support teachers for cohesive instruction.
Leave clear plans for substitutes when needed.
Maintain consistent communication with families.
Participate in open houses and readiness conversations.
Attend College meetings and professional development days.
Collaborate with staff and support school events; uphold child safety policies.
