Qualifications

The Mental Health Counselor provides direct patient care to adolescents and adults under the supervision of clinical staff and the program director. Our program is a 24-hour level of care facility.

Part -time positions are 24 hours/week with rotating weekends.

Pay: $19.00-$23.00/hour depending on education and experience.

Responsibilities Include
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Provide a safe and therapeutic milieu by monitoring residents and redirecting behaviors.
  2. Assist residents through the admission process, including bag searches, required paperwork, and orienting new patients to the unit.
  3. Establish therapeutic relationships with residents and provide resident care within Walden policies, philosophies, and objectives.
  4. Observe residents and accurately and thoroughly document daily resident notes.
  5. Supervise breakfast, lunch, and snacks and provide redirection to residents, as needed.
  6. Precise preparation of adolescent snacks and meals.
  7. Provide supervision and guidance in the preparation of adult resident meals.
  8. Participate in community meetings, group therapies, education, and social activities on the unit.
  9. Help facilitate group therapy sessions, including but not limited to DBT, CBT, Body Image, etc.
  10. Communicate appropriately and effectively with residents’ treatment teams to ensure the highest quality of resident care.
  11. Conduct daily resident weigh-ins.
  12. Complete call assignments as designated by clinical staff.
  13. Administer Columbia risk assessments, monitor resident safety, and complete safety documentation.
  14. Model therapeutic eating habits with residents by eating provided programmatic meals and snacks aligned with the company's nutrition philosophy to completion throughout the shift.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Participates in weekly to bi-weekly staff meetings to continue personal and professional growth as well as building cohesion amongst the treatment team.
  2. Demonstrates knowledge and awareness of a patient’s total needs as a person, and addresses psychosocial, physical, developmental, spiritual, and cultural issues as appropriate for each individual.
  3. Has working knowledge of the facility’s fire, disaster, and infection control programs.
  4. Adheres to and follows the Monte Nido & Affiliates policies and procedures, including work schedule, time and attendance, and time off.
  5. Uses tact and sensitivity in communicating effectively and respectfully with patients, families, co-workers and all others.
  6. Provides for the maintenance of confidentiality of patient records and communications.
  7. Maintains the values and philosophy of the mission statement of the Monte Nido & Affiliates.
  8. Recommends quality and/or process improvement initiatives in order to more effectively and efficiently perform the job functions of this position.
  9. In an emergency or declared state of emergency, you may be required to stay on site as a part of the emergency team until the emergency has ended.
  10. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education:
  • High School diploma, Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology or related field preferred
Experience:
  • Two years of office experience in a health-related field preferred
Licensure/Certification:
  • CPR Certification
Knowledge
  • Must possess knowledge of psychiatric group process, therapeutic relationships processes, age-specific growth and development, limit setting and behavior management, crisis management with aggressive behaviors.
Required Competencies:

  • Ability to multitask in a changing and fast-paced mental health environment
