Job summary

Vicars Landing is seeking a Stratford Wait Staff team member to perform table service in the Stratford dining room, assist with room tray setup, and support minor food production while upholding Stratford kitchen and dining room cleanliness.

Responsible for following established policies, maintaining hygiene, and presenting a professional appearance while delivering courteous service to Members and guests.

Qualifications

• Fundamental understanding of hospitality, customer service, table service technique, personal hygiene, and professional appearance.
• Ability to read, write and speak English, perform simple arithmetic, and follow oral instructions in English.
• Must be able to lift and carry a 50-pound service tray for 50 feet.
• Ability to bend and pick up items from the floor and reach above head.

JOB SUMMARY

The Stratford Wait Staff employee is responsible for table service in the Stratford dining room, room tray set, minor food production and cleanliness of Stratford kitchen and dining room. The employee is responsible for following established policies and procedures regarding food service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Takes orders, provides service, and requested items both graciously and courteously. Assists in maintaining a high level of customer service for our members and their guests. Sets up room trays for nursing staff to deliver to Members rooms.
• Abides by all established community policies, procedures, and rules, including attendance.
• Maintains established standards of personal hygiene and cleanliness. Always in appropriate uniforms.
• Attends in-service training and educational seminars as assigned.
• Maintains safe and sanitary conditions of work areas for employees as well as Members.
• Non-essential job functions:
  • Responsible for setting tables and maintaining workstations according to Vicar's Landing policies and procedures. Keeps pace with responsibilities to avoid interference with member's services.
  • Communicates effectively any/all menu selections, specials, and requests.
  • Completes all assigned side work filling salt and pepper shakers, sugar container, cleaning and replacing stock in a timely manner.
  • Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

QualificationsEducation & Experience:

There is no essential knowledge/skill/training specified for waitstaff position.

Must possess a fundamental understanding of hospitality, customer service, table service technique, personal hygiene, and professional appearance.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to read, write and speak English, perform simple arithmetic, and follow oral instructions in English.
• Ability to interpret and explain the menu, answer, or refer questions, coordinate the meal service process, and respond to requests.
• Must be able to lift and carry a 50-pound service tray for 50 feet.
• Must be able to bend and pick up items from the floor, reach above head to remove items from shelf.
• Ability to work in close cooperation with Members, guests and staff with courtesy, tact, and graciousness.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, talk hear, and occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, and crouch. Employees must have excellent balance and be able to climb a ladder and walk around a roof.
• The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and be able to work at heights.
• Specific vision abilities required by the job include close, distance, and peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus as well as work on a computer for extended periods of time.
• The employee must be able to communicate verbally with others on the phone or in person.
