Job Description

Job Title: Litigation Attorney (Junior to Lead level) Employment (Wage & Hour)

Employment focused law firm is currently seeking to hire attorneys specialized in Wage & Hour.

Job Location: The firm will consider hiring remote candidates if they live in CA. If not working onsite, they will only need to go to the office 1-2 times per month. The firm is open to candidates with at least 1 year of CA Wage & Hour employment experience but also seeks senior-level talent, including mid-level and senior or supervisory attorneys.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Base Salary: $140,000 - $275,000 per year (Top earners can expect to be in the mid-to high six-figures range; $600,000+).
  • Additional Compensation: Opportunity to earn a percentage of the firm's recovery on cases handled.

Position Summary: We seek a skilled and driven Litigation Attorney (junior to senior level) to focus on Wage & Hour law. This role is suited for an attorney with a deep understanding of labor and employment law, experienced in leading teams, and eager to challenge employer misconduct. You will manage your own caseload independently and guide your team through all litigation stages.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage Caseload: Oversee your own cases efficiently and effectively.
  • For a Senior / Lead Attorney: Provide leadership to 1-3 attorneys, fostering a collaborative environment. Supervise legal support teams managed by others. Demonstrated experience in managing legal teams, mentoring, and developing junior staff.
  • Motion Practice and Litigation: Draft or supervise motions such as remand motions, opposition to arbitration motions, discovery motions, and motions for class certification.
  • Develop Legal Strategies: Create and implement strategies to resolve cases favorably and cost-effectively.
  • Conduct Depositions and Conferences: Manage depositions and meet and confer sessions.
  • Mediation and Negotiations: Prepare for mediations and assist in negotiations for employment disputes on a class or individual basis.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Active member in good standing with the California State Bar.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Minimum of one year of experience as a CA Employment Law attorney specializing in Wage & Hour law.
  • Strong analytical, research, organizational, and time management skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of the California Labor Code and litigation applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal advocacy skills.
