Wafer Metrology Intern

About our group

Seagate's Wafer Manufacturing Operations Metrology/Test Engineering organization is seeking an Engineering Intern to conduct experimental trials and participate in continuous improvement projects during summer 2027. This position will be located in Seagate's Bloomington, MN facility.

About the role - you will:

• Develop technical understanding of one or more metrology tools used in the wafer manufacturing process.
• Perform metrology recipe updates, gage studies & equipment improvement projects to support metrology improvements. This will include process-based experiments, data collection and analysis.
• Develop software tools as needed to complete projects and assist metrology engineers.

About you:

• Can effectively discuss technical concepts in both written and verbal communication.
• Must be highly motivated and self-directed.

Your experience includes:

• Practical lab experience
• Statistics and Data Analysis experience using R, Excel, JMP or Python.
• May have experience with thin film characterization or deposition.
• May have experience with measurement and/or characterization techniques.
• May have experience with image processing and/or defect detection.
• You are working on a Master's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, or Physics and returning for classes in Fall 2027.

The estimated base wage range for this position is $30 - $35/hr. The individual base wage is based on work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

The benefits for this position are based on a 24 to 40-hour-per-week schedule for a full calendar year and may differ depending on work location and tenure with the Company.
