You will work with producers, writers, directors, anchors, reporters, and graphics teams to craft compelling, community-focused broadcasts. A strong journalist with excellent communication and production skills is essential.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of three years’ experience producing at a local news station.
  • Ability to work under deadline pressures in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented with strong editorial and production skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be flexible with working hours (late nights, overnights, holidays).

Job Description

The Disney-owned station WABC in New York City is looking for an experienced Newscast Producer with the ability to connect with our audience. The ideal candidate must be a dynamic and compelling journalist and communicator who will oversee all elements of daily newscasts. This team member will work collaboratively with producers, writers, directors, anchors, reporters, graphic artists, and other newsroom leaders. The applicant must demonstrate a full understanding of the powerful voice and responsibility broadcasters have to, and with, the communities we serve. This team member will produce for all platforms and dayparts, including early mornings, nights, and weekends.

WABC-TV Eyewitness News in New York City is seeking an aggressive, motivated, and dedicated Newscast Producer who will oversee all elements of a daily sportscast. Our newscast producer must build complicated, compelling, interesting sportscasts in a highly competitive, high-pressure environment. A successful candidate must work well with anchors, reporters, assignment editors, directors, and graphic artists. Candidates for this position should have a passion for producing, writing, and delivering news, highlights, and features in a creative manner.

This is a full-time staff position. The position is covered under the WGA-ABC National Agreement.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Studio Production, Journalism, or related field

The hiring range for this WGA role in New York is $139,913 to $145,000 per year. The base pay actually offered may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. Select benefits may be provided as part of the compensation package, such as medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
