Job Purpose
General upkeep of the office building. Ensuring the building is clean and orderly. Performs heavy cleaning duties such as floor cleaning, washing walls, glass, and removing rubbish. May notify management of repair needs or clean snow and debris from sidewalks.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing or vacuuming.
- Gather and empty trash.
- Service, clean, and supply restrooms.
- Clean and polish furniture and fixtures.
- Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors.
- Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment.
- Prepare cleaning solutions by mixing water, detergents, or acids.
- Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors.
- Operate vehicles required for cleaning work, including vans, industrial trucks, or industrial vacuum cleaners.
- Follow procedures for use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage.
- Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies manually or with hand trucks.
- Notify managers of major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
- Remove snow from sidewalks, driveways, and parking areas using snowplows, snow blowers, and shovels; spread snow melting chemicals.
- Requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.
- Spray insecticides and fumigants to prevent insect and rodent infestation.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- At least 6 months of experience.
- Basic knowledge of repair techniques or job training alongside experienced custodian.
- Advanced skills: Sanitation for Food Facility; Finishing/Refinishing Floors; Forklift Driver.
- Must be able to effectively communicate, read, write, and speak English.
- Ability to read, analyze, and write.
- Ability to follow orders and respond to questions from management.
Physical Demands
- Occasionally reach, lift, or move up to 50 pounds.
- Crouch or crawl under a 48" high shelf, ascend/descend a 14" step.
- Activate phone systems using keyboards and buttons.
- Work in indoor/office environment; sit and use repetitive hand motion.
- Talk, hear, stand and walk frequently.
- Work more than continuous 8 hours when required.
- Read and discern visual images with 20/20 corrected vision.
- Speak and communicate clearly over telephones.
- Maintain sound physical health without controlled substances.
Work Environment
May be exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, and airborne particles. Noise level ranges from quiet to moderately loud.
