Job summary

RJW Logistics Group is seeking an Inventory Control Lead to supervise stockroom, warehouse, and yard inventory. You will coordinate counts, review records for accuracy, and drive improvements in stock levels and processes.

The role requires forklift experience, familiarity with WMS (prefer Synapse), and the ability to lead a small team while ensuring safety and policy compliance. Travel to other facilities may be needed, with reliable transportation expected.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years related experience in Inventory Control.
  • Minimum 1–2 years related experience in warehouse environment.
  • Experience operating a forklift and cherry picker/high lift.
  • Experience using WMS software (Synapse preferred).
  • Working knowledge of Inventory Control practices; KPI reporting and cycle counts.

Job Purpose

The Inventory Control Lead is responsible for supervising and coordinating activities of workers concerned with inventorying materials, supplies, tools, equipment, and parts, in stockroom, warehouse, or yard.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Maintains layout of stockroom, warehouse, and other storage areas, considering turnover, size, weight, and related factors in items stored.
  • Studies records and recommends remedial actions for reported non-usable, slow moving, and excess stock.
  • Reviews records for accuracy of information and compliance with established procedures, and to determine adequacy of stock levels.
  • Schedules work for special and periodic inventories.
  • Prepares composite reports from individual reports of Inventory Specialists.
  • Traces history of items to determine reasons for discrepancies between inventory and stock control records and recommends remedial actions to resolve discrepancies.
  • Issue written / oral instructions and expedites workflow with team members.
  • Assigns duties and examines work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures.
  • Other tasks as assigned by manager.
  • Travel requirement to assist other facilities and having reliable transportation.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to physically count articles or products on shelves, racks and pallets.
  • Utilize computer terminal to properly account for inventory issues, returns, and documentation.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years related experience and/or training in Inventory Control.
  • Minimum 1 to 2 years related experience and/or training in warehouse environment.
  • Experience operating a forklift and cherry picker/high lift.
  • Experience using WMS software (Synapse preferred).
  • Working knowledge of Inventory Control practices; KPI reporting, Coordinating Cycle Count programs, Product rotation.
  • PC literate with experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Access Database.
Education And/or Experience Required
  • High School Diploma or GED (General Education Diploma) equivalency.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to physically count articles or products on shelves, racks and pallets.
Language Skills Sets
  • Must be able to effectively communicate, read, write, and speak English.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.
Mathematical Skills
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to determine "root cause" of problem and determine corrective action.
Computer Skills
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must have knowledge of Business Operating Systems, Internet software, Word Processing, and Spreadsheet software.
Physical Demands
  • Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand; walk; stoop; kneel; crouch; or crawl.
  • Must be able to activate phone systems utilizing keyboards and buttons.
  • Must be articulate and comfortable speaking in front of others.
  • Regularly works in an indoor/office environment and required to sit and/or use repetitive hand motion.
  • Frequently required to talk, hear, stand and walk.
  • Must be able to work in excess of continuous 8 hours when required.
  • Must be able to work under stressful situations, have good cognitive skills, maintain work accuracy, and the ability to concentrate on more than one task at a time.
  • Must have the ability to read and discern visual images on a variety of media with 20/20 corrected vision.
  • Must be able to speak and communicate clearly over telephones.
  • Must be in sound physical health as determined by a certified licensed physician with no evidence of the use of controlled substances.
Work Environment
  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment will range from quiet to moderately loud.
