Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
• PE license preferred or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe.
• 3–10 years of water and wastewater engineering experience.
• Experience with municipal infrastructure projects preferred.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning, evaluation, and design of water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
• Prepare engineering calculations, reports, plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Develop construction documents using AutoCAD Civil 3D and related software.
• Support project managers from planning through construction.
• Coordinate with municipalities, utilities, and regulatory bodies.
• Participate in meetings, site visits, and client presentations.
• Assist with permitting and regulatory compliance.
• Mentor junior staff and contribute to QA/QC reviews.

Position Overview

We are seeking a talented Water/Wastewater Engineer to join our growing Tucson team. This position offers the opportunity to work on a variety of municipal water, wastewater, and utility infrastructure projects that directly impact communities throughout Southern Arizona.

The ideal candidate will have experience with water and wastewater systems, strong technical skills, and a desire to contribute to project delivery while continuing to grow professionally within a collaborative engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering & Design

• Assist with the planning, evaluation, and design of water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
• Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, design memorandums, plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Design and support projects involving:
  • Water distribution systems
  • Wastewater collection systems
  • Pump stations and lift stations
  • Water storage facilities
  • Water and wastewater treatment facilities
  • Reclaimed water systems
• Perform hydraulic and utility system analyses.
• Develop construction documents utilizing AutoCAD Civil 3D and related engineering software.

Project Delivery

• Support project managers in executing projects from planning through construction.
• Coordinate with municipalities, utility agencies, regulatory bodies, and project stakeholders.
• Participate in project meetings, site visits, and client presentations.
• Assist with permitting, agency coordination, and regulatory compliance efforts.

Team Collaboration

• Work closely with project managers, senior engineers, and multidisciplinary design teams.
• Participate in internal quality assurance and quality control reviews.
• Mentor and collaborate with EITs and junior staff.
• Contribute to a positive and team-oriented culture focused on technical excellence and client service.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related discipline.
• PE license preferred or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe.
• 3-10 years of experience in water and wastewater engineering.
• Experience working on municipal infrastructure projects.
• Knowledge of water distribution and wastewater collection system design principles.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

Preferred Experience

• City of Tucson, Pima County, Oro Valley, Marana, Sahuarita, or Southern Arizona municipal projects.
• Water and wastewater treatment facility improvements.
• Utility master planning and asset management projects.
• Reclaimed water infrastructure.
• Pump station and lift station design.
• Construction administration and field services support.
• Capital Improvement Programs (CIPs).
