summary

Performs a variety of water distribution system and sanitary sewer collection system maintenance, operation, and installation duties. Operates backhoe, directional drilling machine, excavator, skid loader, dump truck, sanitary sewer cleaning jet / vac combination truck, and other heavy equipment as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

• Operates backhoe for water and sewer construction, maintenance, or installation duties.
• Operates Directional Drilling and locating equipment for boring under streets, sidewalks, yards and other obstructions.
• Operates jet / vac combination truck to clean and maintain sanitary sewer collection system.
• Participates in work crew efforts for various construction activities including water and sewer main installation, existing water valve and hydrant operation and maintenance, making large and small machine taps, and replacing or repairing sanitary manhole covers.
• Operates heavy equipment for snow removal.
• Reports need for maintenance of department heavy equipment.
• Performs related work as required and all other duties as may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Any combination of education, training and experience equivalent to graduation from high school, plus a minimum of one year of experience operating heavy equipment. Knowledge of maintenance and operation of a public drinking water distribution system and a public sanitary sewer collection system preferred.

• Possession of, or ability to obtain and maintain, an appropriate, valid commercial driver’s license within six (6) months of hire.

RESidency requirement

Must reside within 30 minutes of duty station, per Google maps, within six months of date of hire.

HOURS

40 hours week, Monday - Friday. Subject to be called in at anytime for emergencies and maintenance operations.
