Job summary

V2X, Inc. in Maryland is seeking a Maintenance Control/Crew Leader to guide a field crew on government-related tasks. You will diagnose issues, estimate material and manpower needs, and supervise up to ten workers across shifts, with limited administrative duties.

Applicants should have a high school diploma, four years in the field, and the ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance. Experience with F-18 platforms and wiring knowledge are preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; Associate degree or trade license preferred.
  • A&P license desirable but not required.
  • Four years of recent, related experience in the field.
  • Completion of specialized courses in aircraft structural repair.
  • Desired experience with F-18E/F and EA-18G platforms.
  • Must obtain/maintain DoD Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a field crew of up to 10 personnel or more on small teams.
  • Limit admin duties to five hours per week.
  • Diagnose problems, determine scope, and estimate materials and staffing.
  • Provide technical guidance to less skilled employees.
  • Inspect work when inspectors are unavailable.
  • Ensure compliance with COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2 and related standards.

The Maintenance Control/Crew Leader may be the sole leader and point of contact to the Government on standalone teams of fifteen (15) or less, or small teams within a team and second or third shift with fifteen (15) or less employees assigned.

Responsibilities
Principal Accountabilities
  • Must be the leader of a field team dispatched when there is a small number of team members.
  • Is allowed to perform up to a maximum of five (5) hours per week of company-related administrative duties (i.e., time and attendance sheets and home office required reports).
  • Required to determine the scope of work by diagnosing the source of the problem, repair required, and estimating the material and manning requirements to accomplish the work.
  • The work performed by the Crew leader is distinguished by its technical complexity, difficulty, and special or unusual nature.
  • Advanced technical knowledge is applied to solve unusually complex problems.
  • The Crew Leader is required to provide technical assistance and guidance to those employees with lesser skills.
  • May be required to inspect the work of lesser-skilled employees when an Inspector is not assigned to the crew.
  • Crew Leader is the leader of a crew of ten (10) employees or less requiring less supervision and administration.
  • Must be a Crew Leader 1 with more than ten (10) employees, but under the direct supervision of a burden leadman.
  • Comply with all current sections of the COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2 series applicable to aircraft maintenance.
  • Working knowledge of technical publications, NAMP, and NALCOMIS aircraft maintenance applications.

Qualifications
Knowledge & Skills:
  • Must possess leadership and administrative skills, and knowledge of the assigned field of expertise to provide technical assistance and guidance on all probably assigned tasks.
  • Knowledge of Safe working techniques and procedures.
  • Ability to plan and schedule maintenance work requirements.
  • Requires working technical knowledge of aircraft, machinery, facilities, and equipment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude to offer technical direction in all maintenance areas.
  • Understand technical language terms in the associated field.
  • Ability to interact effectively with personnel at all organizational levels.
  • Ability to use a computer.
  • Must have full knowledge of the COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2 series and the RDT&E community
  • Knowledge of military publications, drawings, blueprints, microfilm, diagrams, and schematics is mandatory.
  • Knowledge of military and/or company forms required by work requirements.
  • Working knowledge of safety rules, regulations, and procedures.
  • Possess a valid US State driver's license.
  • Ability to read and interpret data is required.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Ability to obtain a government flight line driver’s license.
Experience & Education:
  • High school degree or equivalent required.
  • Associate’s degree or trade license preferred.
  • A&P License/FAA Certification desirable but not required
  • Four (4) years of actual and recent experience in the signed field of expertise is desirable.
  • Must possess the experience level of the base classification being used to apply the Crew Leader premium.
  • Completion of specialized courses in aircraft structural repair is required.
  • Desired experience on F-18E/F and EA-18G platform
    • Safe for Flight qualification

This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Secret level security clearance.

Physical Requirements/Working Environment
  • May work in aircraft maintenance hangar or outside.
  • May be required to respond to a wide variety of operational circumstances, including extreme weather conditions and rudimentary infrastructure.
  • May be exposed to extreme noise from turbine and jet engine aircraft.
  • May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles; may be exposed to electrical shock hazards or work near moving mechanical parts, vehicles, or aircraft.
  • Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for certain periods throughout the day.
  • Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands.
  • Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee, and reach above/below shoulders.
  • May be required to lift to 50 pounds.li>
  • May be required to see aircraft in flight, read dials/gauges, and identify small objects and hand tools.
  • Must be able to see imperfections, micrometer readings, and other small scales.
  • Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear.
  • Must be able to distinguish color and judge three-dimensional depth.
  • May be required to operate power vehicles, machinery, hand tools, ground support equipment, forklift, APU, etc.
