Job summary

A cybersecurity solutions provider in San Antonio is seeking a Vulnerability Researcher to analyze systems and develop advanced security techniques. Candidates must have a TS/SCI Clearance and experience with C/C++. You will work collaboratively, writing code and studying system behaviors. This role requires a BS/MS in a technical discipline or equivalent work experience, with a passion for solving complex problems in the cybersecurity landscape.

Qualifications

• Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of experience.
• Experience with exploit mitigations such as DEP and ASLR.
• Ability to take apart systems and write code.

Responsibilities

• Analyze systems to understand their behavior and security.
• Work in small teams closely coordinating with customers.

Vulnerability Researchers at NightWing CODEX analyze systems to understand how they work and how they behave when they break. Candidates must be able to play both sides of the fence, developing and defeating new and advanced security techniques. Projects are undertaken in small teams with close coordination with customers. All engineers write code, and many spend as much time taking systems apart as building new ones. A typical day may involve studying disassembly or writing Python to audit C++ code.

Required Skills

• TS/SCI Clearance
• Experience with C or C++
• 2+ years of experience
• Three or more of the following desired skills:

Desired Skills

• Understanding of OS Internals (any major OS)
• Experience reading or writing assembly (x86, x64, ARM, PPC, MIPS, SPARC, 68k, or others)
• Experience developing embedded systems
• Understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP stacks, wire-level protocols, RF communications, BGP, routing protocols, etc.)
• Understanding of exploit mitigations such as DEP and ASLR
• Experience using reverse engineering tools like IDA Pro, Ghidra, Binary Ninja, or objdump
• Experience using debuggers such as gdb, WinDbg, OllyDbg
• Experience building and using tools to find, exploit, and product vulnerabilities in complex software systems

Security Clearance

Qualified applicants may be subject to a security investigation and must meet minimum qualifications for access to classified information. U.S. Citizenship is required. Applicants must meet requirements to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.

Education

BS/MS in a technical discipline or equivalent work experience will be considered.
