Job summary

Calance, Inc. seeks a Vulnerability Management Engineer in Plano, TX, for a 1-year contract with hybrid work. You will own vulnerabilities end-to-end, analyze risk using CVSS and threat intel, and coordinate remediation with infrastructure, apps, and cloud teams.

You will operate and optimize security platforms (Qualys VMDR, Tenable, Rapid7) and drive risk-based actions across the enterprise for resilience.

Qualifications

• 4-8 years of hands-on experience in vulnerability management or security engineering.
• Experience managing high volumes of findings in large, complex environments.
• Strong ability to influence technical teams without direct authority.

Responsibilities

• Own vulnerability findings end to end, from triage through validated closure.
• Assess real-world risk using CVSS, CISA KEV, EPSS, vendor advisories, and threat intelligence.
• Identify false positives, duplicates, accepted risks, and compensating controls.
• Engage system owners and drive remediation across infrastructure, application, and cloud teams.
• Track SLAs, escape high-risk exposures, and support response to actively exploited threats.
• Operate and optimize platforms such as Qualys VMDR, Tenable, or Rapid7, including dashboards and metrics.

Role Summary

Join a collaborative Cybersecurity team focused on maturing an enterprise Vulnerability Management program. You will own vulnerabilities from identification and technical triage through remediation, validation, and closure. Your analysis will turn scanner data and threat intelligence into clear, risk-based actions for infrastructure, application, cloud, and business stakeholders. This is a hands‑on role where your work directly strengthens enterprise resilience.

Required Skills/Experience

• Hands‑on experience with Qualys VMDR, Tenable, Rapid7, or equivalent platforms.
• Strong knowledge of CVE, CVSS, CPE, and vulnerability prioritization.
• Working knowledge of Windows, Linux, networking, databases, and cloud environments.
• Understanding of remediation methods, including patching, configuration changes, and compensating controls.

Other Skills

• Scripting or automation with Python, PowerShell, or REST APIs.
• Experience with Jira, ServiceNow, Splunk, or Microsoft Sentinel.
