Job summary

Engineering Ventures, PC (EV) is seeking a self-motivated staff engineer with a Vermont registration (EIT/PE) to design civil and structural projects from concept through construction. The position offers mentorship, opportunities to lead projects, and collaboration with a talented team.

We value communication, technical writing, and hands-on problem solving. Typical work includes site design, utilities and permitting, with projects ranging from municipal infrastructure to private development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required.
• EIT certification or PE license in Vermont preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
• Experience with site design, utilities and permitting.
• Proficiency with Autodesk Civil 3D; HydroCAD experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Execute civil engineering design from concept through construction.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external partners.
• Design wet utility and stormwater systems; perform hydrologic/hydraulic analysis.
• Develop grading, parking, and roadway plans.
• Conduct field work and prepare technical reports.
• Prepare design drawings, specs, and permit applications.
• Participate in project meetings and public hearings as needed.
• Create design drawings using relevant software.
• Support proposal development, change orders, and client communications.
• Mentor junior staff, review work, and help manage budgets and schedules for senior applicants.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Salary: $70,000 – $110,000 (commensurate with experience)

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Execute civil engineering design from concept through construction.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external partners.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

• B.S. in Civil Engineering.
• 2–10 years of relevant experience (Project Engineer experience is a plus).
• EIT certification or PE license in Vermont.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Technical writing proficiency.
• Experience with site design, utilities, and permitting.
• Proficiency with Autodesk Civil 3D software. HydroCAD experience preferred.
