It is backed by a middle-market investment firm focused on investing in the energy transition and critical infrastructure sectors.

Our client is seeking a high-caliber VP of Strategic Finance to partner closely with the CFO in building and scaling the finance organization across the platform. This is a highly visible, hands-on role with exposure to the CEO, senior operating leadership, Board of Directors, and private equity sponsor.

The VP of Strategic Finance will help establish the financial infrastructure, reporting, KPIs, systems, and processes required to support continued growth and prepare the company for a future exit. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious finance professional to take significant ownership within a rapidly growing, acquisitive PE-backed business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with the CFO to build and scale the finance organization across the company’s three businesses.
  • Own and enhance monthly financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, dashboards, and management reporting.
  • Develop and implement KPIs that provide visibility into financial and operational performance across the platform.
  • Build sophisticated financial models and analyses to support strategic initiatives, business decisions, and performance improvement.
  • Prepare Board and private equity sponsor materials, including executive-level presentations and reporting packages.
  • Support exit preparation, including financial reporting, KPI development, diligence materials, and management presentations.
  • Support the company's continued M&A and acquisition integration activities, including financial reporting and KPI integration.
  • Lead or support finance systems implementations and initiatives to improve reporting, automation, and data quality.
  • Partner with operating leadership to identify trends, risks, and opportunities and drive initiatives that improve revenue, margins, EBITDA, and cash flow.
Candidate Profile
  • 5–7 years of relevant experience in investment banking, private equity, FP&A, corporate finance, or a combination thereof.
  • Exceptional financial modeling and analytical skills with strong Excel and PowerPoint capabilities.
  • Experience building financial models, dashboards, management reporting, and executive presentations.
  • Experience in a services-oriented business strongly preferred; utility services, infrastructure, construction, industrial, or field services experience is a plus.
  • Experience in a PE-backed or highly acquisitive environment preferred.
  • Strong work ethic, intellectual curiosity, and willingness to be hands-on.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work with senior executives and operating leaders.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field required.
  • Must be based in Charlotte, NC, with willingness to travel occasionally.
Opportunity Highlights
  • Join a nearly $1 billion revenue utility services platform at a significant stage of growth.
  • Work directly with the CFO and senior leadership team.
  • Build and shape the finance organization and infrastructure.
  • Significant exposure to PE, M&A, Board reporting, and exit preparation.
  • Play a key role in integrating and scaling a platform that has completed approximately 15 acquisitions.
  • Opportunity to make a meaningful impact across three businesses within a critical infrastructure sector.
