The Vice President of Stars Pharmacy/VP Stars Population Health is a member of the Optum Health Clinical Excellence team and will report to the SVP Stars Pharmacy/SVP Star Population Health. The VP of Stars Pharmacy/VP Stars Population Health directly leads a team of senior clinical directors and responsible for the overall Stars Part D and clinical measure performance across the assigned OH business segment (Optum at Home, Senior Community Care, and Optum Care, or WellMed). This role will be responsible for collaborating with analytics, operational, clinical, and market ops leadership, ensuring OH achieves or exceeds target for our yearly Stars goals for all metrics, ultimately helping our plans try to achieve 4 and 5 stars. They will be engaging and coaching their team members to meet or exceed established goals. They will work with their direct reports in utilizing the UHG Common language of Leadership (CLL) tool to select and achieve development goals and assist with developing future talent. They will oversee the identification, hiring, and onboarding of new talent. Additionally, the VP will be an integral part of our OH Stars team and work with varying disciplines in innovating new programs and initiatives to continue towards plan excellence. They will stay engaged throughout the process, helping the department reach the yearly goals together as a team.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and lead call center and clinical pharmacy programs to ensure Part D objectives are achieved
  • Lead a team of senior clinical leaders who have oversight of member outreach and clinical programs
  • Develop future talent and team development utilizing Common Language of Leadership (CLL)
  • Lead the development of strategic pharmacy vision and priorities to ensure business goals are met
  • As a part of the Stars leadership team, you will be expected to create plans, goals, and priorities to address business and operational goals
  • Develops short- and long-term strategies to respond to potential risks and to capitalize on opportunities
  • Collaborate with trainers on all training programs related to Productivity, Quality, Health Literacy, and Medicare Stars/HEDIS initiatives
  • Approve and oversee all policies, procedures, and job descriptions
  • Ensure staffing levels maintained to ensure results and financial expectations are achieved
  • Communicating organizational priorities and vision to team leaders
  • Establish a solid collaborative relationship with market operations, analytics, and operational leadership to ensure business objectives are achieved
  • Assessing external clinical pharmacy and Part D industry trends and developments that represent risk and opportunity for the organization

Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ years leadership experience (leading clinical and non-clinal teams)
  • 8+ years management experience
  • 6+ Medicare Stars Part D experience
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Proven excellent written and verbal skills
  • Proven planning and organizational skills to demonstrate leadership and initiative
  • Proven solid interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex, concurrent projects
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as a part of a team
  • Willing or ability to travel up to 25%

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PharmD
  • Experience managing a medication adherence call center team
  • Advanced understanding of Stars Part D technical specifications

The salary range for this role is $150,200 to $288,500 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
