THIS IS A SENIOR LEVEL ROLE LOOKING FOR A VERY TECHNICAL PERSON TO MANAGE THE TEAM

Role Overview

The Lead Network Engineer plays a crucial role in designing, implementing, and maintaining global network infrastructure. Working closely with the VP of Infrastructure & Engineering, this position is responsible for ensuring that the network systems meet the highest standards of performance, reliability, and security. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in network engineering, an eye for detail, and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving network issues. This role requires strong collaboration with various departments to support IT initiatives and ensure seamless network operations. Staying current with industry trends, technologies, and certifications is essential to continuously improve Carlyle's network infrastructure.

Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and manage complex LAN/WAN/SDWAN/Cloud network infrastructure to support Carlyle's global operations, ensuring performance, reliability, and security.
  • Configure and maintain network hardware and software, including routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, and wireless access points.
  • Monitor network performance and proactively resolve issues using tools like iPerf, SNMP, NetFlow, Wireshark, etc.
  • Build and maintain network automations using infrastructure as code (Terraform) or Python libraries.
  • Collaborate across departments to support IT initiatives and ensure seamless network integration.
  • Develop and enforce network policies, procedures, and standards, ensuring compliance.
  • Conduct regular network assessments and audits to identify vulnerabilities, supporting penetration testing and scanning.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and participate in training to improve skills.
  • Manage relationships with network equipment, software, and circuit vendors.
  • Guide and mentor junior staff, fostering a collaborative team environment.
  • Prepare technical documentation and reports for management.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., Cisco CCIE, CCNP, AWS SA) are highly desirable.
  • Extensive IP design and management experience.
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise networks, including SDWAN, regional, and local networks.
  • Experience configuring Cisco devices, Meraki WAPs, Fortinet FortiGate, etc.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills at the protocol level.
  • Deep understanding of networking protocols and policy routing (IPsec, BGP, OSPF, EVPN, VXLAN, etc.).
  • Knowledge of network security principles and tools.
  • Experience with cloud networking on AWS and Azure.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Professional Experience
  • Minimum of 7 years in network engineering, designing and maintaining complex infrastructures.
  • Proven experience with various network technologies and tools.
  • Experience managing large projects and working with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong understanding of network security and best practices.
  • Vendor management experience and familiarity with leading vendors.
  • Experience with cloud and hybrid network environments.
