The Opportunity :

We are not your average bakery. Since 1989, the bakers at La Brea Bakery have made true artisan bread using our original sourdough starter and recipe, high-quality ingredients, and dedication to the artisan process. La Brea Bakery revolutionized the modern artisan bread movement, enabling the culinary community and consumers to share in the joy that hearth-baked, hand-crafted bread brings to everyday dining occasions. Now, La Brea Bakery artisan breads are sold at select supermarkets throughout the United States and overseas. We have been growing since 1989—and now, we are looking for a dynamic Vice President of Sales to lead the charge. The Vice President will shape the future of artisan bread. You will report directly to the Chief Commercial Officer and be a key player in shaping company strategy, brand partnerships, and go-to-market initiatives.

We develop deep relationships with our customer partners, which includes major in-store bakery grocery retailers, quick serve restaurants, and foodservice providers, to provide bakery solutions with the highest standards for food safety and sustainability. Through our customer-centric focus, we aim to delight consumers with our irresistible baked goods while helping our partners drive sales and profitability.

What You Will Do :

  • Drive Growth : Lead and scale national sales across grocery retailers. Deliver aggressive revenue targets and margin improvements.
  • Strategic Leadership : Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy that aligns with our brand and operations.
  • Build Relationships : Cultivate long-term relationships with key retailers and distributors.
  • Team Leadership : Inspire, recruit, and mentor a high-performance sales team across regions.
  • Data-Driven : Leverage analytics to identify opportunities, optimize pricing strategies, and forecast performance.
  • Market Expansion : Explore new markets—identify new food opportunities / line-extensions that can be successful in retail portfolios in alignment with customer trends.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration : Partner closely with Marketing, Bakery Operations, Supply Chain, Procurement, and Finance to align sales efforts with company-wide goals and to deliver La Brea Bakery’s unique selling proposition to customers.

What you Bring :

  • 15+ years of executive experience in Sales in high-performing organizations, ideally in In-store bakery, artisan food, CPG, or natural products
  • Proven success in achieving (or exceeding) Sales targets consistently from year to year
  • Proven success scaling brands in grocery retail and consistently achieving sales revenue goals
  • 10+ years in decision-making roles with people management responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated strong strategic thinking and agility that has translated into effective long and short-term revenues / business strategies and superior business performance
  • Business savvy, an ability to identify key business drivers and optimize for best results.
  • Deep understanding of distributor networks and management of large, complex customer organizations and multiple distribution channels
  • Solid knowledge of, and experience in, new business development process and its fundamental concepts, combined with an understanding of the roles of all departments and functions impacting the process
  • Achieving wins while maintaining existing and newly acquired business
  • Proven capability in building high performance, highly collaborative teams. A leader who practices servant leadership and is a role model in coaching and developing talent
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with proven ability to achieve business performance results within an organization of lean infrastructure.

Salary Range : $200,000-$250,000

Location : Remote, US
