Job summary

AmeriServ Financial Inc. is seeking an experienced retirement services professional to administer fiduciary trust accounts and relationships with a focus on retirement services and compliance.

This role will supervise junior staff and support plan sponsors in achieving investment objectives and regulatory adherence. The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field with at least five years of retirement services experience; advanced degree or industry certification is

Job description

Administer fiduciary trust accounts and relationships, primarily retirement services related, while maintaining a high standard of service and compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations. Maintain relationships with plan sponsors.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Administer retirement plan accounts and relationships while maintaining a high standard of service and compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations.
  2. Assist with day-to-day operations of retirement plans and amendments of Adoption Agreements, loan requests and other inquiries.
  3. Assist with internal/external audits along with state and federal examinations. Provide client support with IRS and DOL investigations.
  4. Supervise, assist and train assigned junior personnel.
  5. Ensure wishes of clients are carried out regarding investment objectives and payments to employees and retirees.
  6. Resolve problems reported by clients and others with guidance from department head.
  7. Aid clients regarding investment management, statements of accounts, taxes, remittances and participant records.
  8. Keep informed of new developments, policies, procedures, and laws and regulations concerning retirement plans and institutional accounts.
  9. Participate in related business development activities and department revenue goals.
  10. Assist, when necessary, with the preparation of Qualified Plan testing, Form 5500, and any plan-related audit information on a timely basis for Retirement Service Accounts
  11. Meet with existing/prospective retirees to educate them on benefit options. Participate and/or run one-on-one and group employee education presentations.
  12. Assume responsibility and accountability on relationship building to develop a deep understanding of assigned client’s business and industry and needs around employee benefit programs and other financial services for growing account balances, adding participants, retaining retiree accounts, and developing referrals. Work closely with other Wealth Management divisions and Bank departments to ensure the client’s needs are met.
  13. Maintain all professional credentials/certifications and pursue continued educational opportunities as approved by management to maintain knowledge and proficiency.
  14. Maintain proficiency in utilizing available software used by Wealth Management to administer accounts.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

This position requires supervision of employees. This includes but is not limited to Assistant Retirement Services Officer(s).

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The employee is frequently required to: 1) Type or otherwise work with fingers; 2) Talk expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers or clients accurately, loudly, or quickly; 3) Hearing – perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with/without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and make the discriminations in sound; 4) Specific vision abilities required by this job include: viewing a computer monitor; extensive reading along with travel as required.

Sedentary work may require occasionally lifting of up to 10 pounds and/or move up to 25 pounds. This work involves sitting most of the time with walking and sitting.

REQUIRED/ PREFERRED EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting or related field with five (5) years of direct or related experience in retirement services. An advanced degree or recognized industry certification is required. Maintain all applicable professional credentials and certifications and pursue continuing education opportunities as approved by management to maintain knowledge and proficiency.
