The VP, Product AI Enablement will report to the Chief Digital Officer and will be responsible for driving strategy, development, and implementation of innovative product technology approaches, including generative AI, to transform education for students and instructors, adding value to Cengage Group and its products.

This high-impact, high-visibility role involves identifying strategic opportunities in a rapidly evolving market. It offers the chance to work directly with senior leaders, including the Executive Team, to shape the future of education.

What You'll Do Here

1. Develop a comprehensive strategy for using generative AI in education products and services.
2. Identify opportunities to enhance learning outcomes, personalize experiences, and optimize content with AI technologies to deliver market value and solve challenges.
3. Collaborate with Product Teams to build and align on an innovation strategy and roadmap that leverages AI in our educational offerings across Higher Ed, School, and Work sectors.
4. Conduct financial analyses to evaluate the cost-benefit and ROI of implementing generative AI, analyzing market trends, competitors, and customer needs to inform decisions.
5. Partner with corporate development to assess investment and acquisition opportunities that provide strategic advantages and upside.
6. Develop business cases for AI applications and investment levels required for Cengage Group.
7. Work with the research team to identify market demand, customer preferences, and emerging trends, informing product development, pricing, and marketing strategies.
8. Ensure ethical use of AI by establishing guidelines addressing privacy, bias, and fairness, championing responsible AI practices organization-wide.
9. Assess and manage risks to protect Cengage IP long-term.
10. Lead internal and external teams to develop and deploy generative AI solutions, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.
11. Model strong People Leadership aligned with Cengage’s expectations.
12. Coordinate with cross-functional teams to integrate AI into educational products.
13. Establish strategic partnerships with external organizations, research institutions, and vendors to innovate and access AI capabilities.
14. Stay updated on advancements in generative AI, machine learning, and NLP.
15. Identify emerging trends and potential applications to keep Cengage at the forefront of innovation.
16. Define KPIs and metrics to evaluate AI solutions, continuously optimizing models for accuracy, efficiency, and user satisfaction.

Skills You Will Need Here

• 12+ years of leadership experience in product management and technology
• 15+ years of general experience in Technology/Product Management
• Deep understanding of innovation and AI technologies, particularly in education tech (e.g., LMS systems)
• Strong leadership and management skills with a successful product delivery record
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
• Analytical and problem-solving skills with data-driven insights
• Experience in fast-paced, high-growth environments

Compensation

We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package. The full base salary range for this role is $192,500 - $250,000 USD, with variations based on experience, location, and qualifications. Sales roles may include incentives beyond base salary.
