Job summary

JPMorgan Chase & Co. seeks a Petroleum Engineer (Vice President) in Houston to lead independent oil and gas reserve evaluations and economic analyses supporting lending decisions. You will collaborate with engineers, risk teams, and bankers to document results and communicate recommendations clearly.

The role requires a strong technical background in PRMS, economics, and Excel modeling, with the ability to work across teams and contribute to risk management in energy finance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of experience with an E&P operating company including reservoir engineering, operations, geology, major capital projects, and business development.
• Experience estimating oil and gas reserves and running economics.
• Understanding of PRMS reserve designations and deterministic reserve classification.
• Proficiency in standard oil and gas economic software (Aries, PHDWin).
• Advanced Excel modeling skills.
• Strong technical writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform independent, comprehensive oil and gas reserve and economic evaluations for loan requests and borrowing base reviews.
• Collaborate with Engineering Technicians, Risk teams, and bankers to build relationships focused on reserves evaluation as collateral.
• Document evaluation results in memorandums summarizing loan value, economics, key assumptions, downside risks, and asset quality.
• Apply established policies and seek guidance on complex issues from Senior Petroleum Engineers.
• Classify oil and gas reserves according to PRMS deterministic reserve categories.
• Utilize Aries and PHDWin for reserve and economic analyses.
• Develop and maintain Excel models to support reserve and economic evaluations.
• Communicate findings and recommendations through clear technical writing.
