Overview


The VP of Operations provides executive leadership and oversight for both the strategic direction and day-to-day operational performance of the hospital, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered care while maintaining operational excellence, financial sustainability, and full regulatory compliance. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring operational strategies that align with the organization’s mission, vision, and long-term goals, while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement across all areas of responsibility.

The position exercises direct management oversight for the planning, development, and performance of key clinical and operational departments, including Radiology, Pharmacy, and Laboratory Services, as well as the Orthopedic and Oncology Service Lines. Working closely with physicians, clinical leaders, and administrative teams, the VP of Operations ensures that these areas deliver high-quality, cost-effective services that meet the evolving needs of patients, providers, and the broader community. The role is accountable for driving service excellence, improving patient outcomes, optimizing resource utilization, and supporting the growth and advancement of these critical service lines.

In addition, the VP of Operations oversees the performance and accountability of contracted services, including Environmental Services (EVS), Food and Nutrition (F+N), and Patient Transport, ensuring key performance indicators (KPIs) consistently exceed established targets while maintaining exceptional quality standards, patient satisfaction, and customer experience outcomes. Through strong vendor management, performance monitoring, and process improvement initiatives, this leader ensures operational efficiency and service reliability across all support functions. This includes identifying opportunities for operational improvement, leading change management initiatives, leveraging data-driven decision-making, and promoting best practices that support quality, safety, productivity, and financial performance.

  • Multi-site or regional academic health system leadership experience.
