Job summary

Sanmina Corporation is seeking a VP of Operations to oversee the plant’s performance and lead a team of functional managers to meet weekly production and revenue targets. The role requires strategic leadership across manufacturing, engineering, quality, and operations to drive profitability and growth.

The ideal candidate has 10 to 15 years of senior manufacturing experience, with EMS industry exposure and a hands-on approach to MRP/ERP, NPI, and capacity planning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BS) in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or Business Administration with a heavy technical focus.
• 10 to 15 years of progressive managerial experience in manufacturing, preferably with a background as an Operations Manager, Manufacturing Engineering Manager, or related technical leadership role.
• EMS industry experience with exposure to advanced electronic, optical, and telecommunications product manufacturing preferred.
• Hands-on experience with MRP/ERP systems, NPI protocols, and capacity planning.

Responsibilities

• Oversee factory operations across the plant to hit weekly performance, production and revenue targets.
• Plan and administer department budgets; advise on tooling, direct/indirect labor, and capital expenditures while reviewing cost and operations data to ensure profitability.
• Participate in formulating company policies and developing long-range strategic goals aligning asset performance with growth.
• Provide engineering leadership for manufacturing, process, industrial, automation, and quality engineers.
• Direct process engineering initiatives involving design, optimization, validation, qualification, and continuous improvement of manufacturing systems.
• Lead NPI programs and coordinate bids, proposals, and contract execution; manage customer and supplier relationships.

Job Purpose

Principal Accountabilities

1. Operational Leadership & Strategic Management

2. Manufacturing & Process Engineering Oversight

• Technical Direction: Provide engineering leadership and oversight to manufacturing, process, industrial, automation, and quality engineers.
• Process Optimization: Direct process engineering initiatives involving design, optimization, validation, qualification, and continuous improvement of manufacturing systems.
• Standards & Approvals: Review and approve engineering standards, process specifications, validation protocols, manufacturing procedures, and technical operating requirements using advanced engineering judgment.

4. Quality Engineering & Continuous Improvement

• Quality Systems: Lead quality engineering initiatives, including statistical process control (SPC) systems, root cause analysis, corrective action implementation, reliability engineering, and process capability analysis.
• Technology Evaluation: Continuously evaluate manufacturing technologies and engineering solutions to improve productivity, quality, yield performance, and operational reliability.

5. New Product Introduction (NPI) & Business Development

• NPI Leadership: Provide engineering leadership for NPI programs to ensure manufacturability, process capability, quality performance, and operational readiness.
• Bid & Proposal Management: Coordinate with operations, engineering, and program management to ensure proposals for potential contracts are accurate, matching company capabilities with customer requirements to win new business.
• Contract Execution: Direction and execution of the product/service contract management process, resulting in accurate forecasts, competitive pricing, successful negotiations, and scope recovery.

6. Customer & Supplier Relationship Management

• Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with design engineering teams, customers, suppliers, and technical personnel regarding product manufacturability, engineering requirements, and technology implementation.
• Business Growth: Establish and maintain strong customer relationships through stellar performance, securing profitable recurring business and identifying opportunities for expansion.
