Job summary

Sanmina is seeking a Director of Operations to lead the full spectrum of manufacturing, engineering and quality activities from planning to shipment. You will drive cross-functional teams, optimize throughput and profitability, and coordinate with finance on inventory and costs.

Candidates should have 10+ years in regulated manufacturing, 5+ years of people leadership, and strong data-driven decision making. Excellent communication and project management are essential for success at Sanmina.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of engineering or management experience in a regulated manufacturing environment; PCB experience is a plus.
• 5+ years of direct people management.
• Knowledge of lean principles (Green or Black belt certification a plus).
• Demonstrated experience leading diverse teams in a dynamic environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
• Open-minded self-starter able to manage multiple tasks and explain complex issues with data.
• Experience running multidisciplinary teams in manufacturing operations and P&L centers.
• Customer-facing experience in audits, Run at Rate qualifications, Process Development, Lean 6-sigma, Supply Chain Management, or MRP execution.
• Strong P&L and balance sheet knowledge.

Job description

Job Purpose

The Director, Operations leads and manages the operations function including production manufacturing engineering, manufacturing process, quality, and activities from production planning to shipment. They use materials management skills as a seasoned professional with a full understanding of industry practices, company policies, procedures, tools, and business disciplines within the organization.

Nature Of Duties / Responsibilities

• Handle complex projects such as a complete customer transfer, including supply chain, product qualification, test, process, scheduling, etc.
• Find and address complex root causes affecting plants, e.g., throughput and yield issues.
• Calculate industrialization estimates for quoting complex jobs, such as moving customer factories to a Sanmina site or setting up pivot lines.
• Deploy and track new programs in North America working directly with plant leadership teams on fundamentals, processes, procedures, resource planning, program management, execution, customer satisfaction, communication, and technical solutions; act as an onboarding coach to improve current processes.
• Drive and supervise operations.
• Maintain optimal balance of service, cost, and profitability.
• Ensure plant responsiveness to customer requests through materials, inventory, and cost management.
• Monitor and report results.
• Oversee material flow encompassing shipping, warehouse, and production floor.
• Review and plan inventory requirements, maintain acceptable inventory levels.
• Coordinate with finance/accounting on inventory carrying costs.
• Ensure material availability.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree required; Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering preferred.
• 10+ years of engineering or management experience in a regulated manufacturing environment; PCB experience is a plus.
• 5+ years of direct people management.
• Knowledge of lean principles (Green or Black belt certification a plus).
• Demonstrated experience leading diverse teams in a dynamic environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
• Open-minded self-starter who can adapt, improvise, problem-solve, manage multiple tasks and projects, and concisely explain complex issues supported with data.
• Experience running multidisciplinary teams in manufacturing operations and P&L centers.
• Customer-facing experience, e.g., Customer Quality Audits, Run at Rate qualifications, Process Development, Industrial Engineering, Lean 6‑sigma, Supply Chain Management, MRP execution.
• Business and financial acumen – strong P&L and balance sheet knowledge.
• Project planning and management – detailed, roll-up-sleeves approach to capacity planning, bottleneck analysis, yield prediction, line balancing, staffing, NPI.
• Self-starter demonstrates initiative and commitment, able to influence all levels of leadership.
• Excellent organizational, negotiation, and analytical skills.
• Proficiency with Office and Google products, Oracle ERP applications.

Salary Range (annual): $150,000 - $165,000. Actual base pay within this range will be determined at the offer stage based on a candidate’s relevant experience, education, certifications, and skills. The total rewards package also includes health insurance, life and disability insurance, savings plan, company‑paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and personal business, and may include eligibility for restricted stock unit awards and participation in a discretionary bonus program.
