We are seeking an experienced VP of Development to build our team of "A" players. This role is critical to the company's growth and will play a key role in shaping our future.

Position Overview

The VP of Development will be the day-to-day leader of Sunland America's business operations, reporting directly to the founders. This position requires a seasoned professional who can oversee the entire solar project pipeline, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and profitability.

This role demands expertise in early-stage solar development, leadership in managing project teams, and the ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Oversight: Manage the full lifecycle of solar projects from land acquisition through interconnection, permitting, and project resale.
  • Team Leadership: Oversee project managers, due diligence managers, acquisition specialists, and other roles while providing strategic guidance and resolution of project-related issues.
  • Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain relationships with landowners, utilities, regulatory agencies, and consultants.
  • Timeline & Budget Management: Set project development schedules, budgets, and key milestones to ensure timely completion.
  • Regulatory & Compliance: Ensure all projects comply with zoning, permitting, and interconnection requirements.
  • Strategic Decision-Making: Play a pivotal role in selecting properties for acquisition and determining project viability.
  • Problem-Solving: Anticipate challenges and implement proactive solutions to keep projects moving forward efficiently.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years in early-stage solar farm development, ideally in community-scale or DG projects under 10 MW.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to manage teams, oversee multiple projects, and drive development efforts.
  • Technical Knowledge: Expertise in interconnection agreements, zoning regulations, land use, and permitting processes.
  • Financial Acumen: Experience working with solar project financing, cost analysis, and ROI projections.
  • Negotiation Skills: Strong ability to negotiate contracts and agreements with utilities and regulatory bodies.
  • Strategic Vision: Ability to assess project feasibility and contribute to the long-term success of Sunland America.

Why Join Sunland America?

  • Key Leadership Role: Be the quarterback of our development efforts and shape the company's future.
  • Premium Compensation: Generous base salary plus sizable performance-based project bonuses.
  • Equity & Growth Opportunities: Stock options in a high-growth company.
  • Top-Tier Team: Work alongside experts and high achievers in the renewable energy space. Help shape the team and bring in additional 'A' Players.
  • Remote & Flexible: Enjoy the freedom to work from anywhere.
