COMPENSATION: $160,000-$180,000 annual salary; Healthcare benefits are available for this role.
ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW:The Colorectal Cancer Alliance is a national nonprofit organization committed to ending colorectal cancer within our lifetime. We help patients, families, survivors, and caregivers navigate diagnosis and treatment options, connect them with those who can share experiences and knowledge, and identify resources to meet their needs. We partner with healthcare professionals and social influencers to raise awareness of preventative screening, and we collaborate with researchers to better understand the disease and fund critical research. POSITION OVERVIEW:The VP will serve as the Alliance's senior leader driving scientific integrity, real-world evidence strategy, and cross-sector research partnerships. This role will lead the development, execution, and communication of a robust research agenda spanning patient-centered outcomes, clinical trial engagement, biomarker adoption, and real-world data (RWD) generation. The role will shape how emerging science informs patient support programs, strategic initiatives, and external collaborations with academic, pharmaceutical, and federal partners. The VP will lead delivering on the organization's strategic goals of delivering impact to the largest CRC patient/survivor community, and the voice of our mission of saving lives with a cure.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Own all of the responsibilities of leading the organization's research portfolio, including an annual grant RFP and review process, relationships and outputs from grantees, and programs related to real world evidence collection, including a newly launched patient registry and other data collection platforms.
- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of the colorectal cancer pipeline, publications, and science and reviewing the organization's web and print patient-facing colorectal cancer content for scientific accuracy.
- Designing a clear and efficient process for sharing colorectal scientific advancements to staff and constituents and serving as the organization's medical affairs expert with partners and sponsors.
- Leading a strategy for how GI/CRC clinical advancements will impact patient support programs, projects and sponsorships, and patient education.
- Collaborating and managing a survey strategy for the Alliance, including annual field-wide colorectal cancer patient & caregiver surveys and subsequent delivery, data collection and analysis within the Alliance's patient platform (BlueHQ).
- Work with consultants, stakeholders, executives, and other senior leaders in being the subject matter expert for the development and impact of Alliance research projects and pilot studies, including but not limited to projects assessing the impact of clinical trial participation, biomarker testing adoption, advocacy groups, and more.
- Plan and implement the dissemination activities and thought leadership in the field of colorectal cancer research, including but not limited to presentations, posters, and publications.
REQUIREMENTS:- M.D. or PhD in biology, research, genetics, or related field preferred
- Cancer clinical knowledge and research experience, GI cancer a plus
- 10+ years of relevant work experience, preferably in a nonprofit setting
- Excellent oral and written communications skills
- Experience working with multidisciplinary research and medical stakeholders
- Experience with federal and/or nonprofit research funding mechanisms
- Ability to message clinical & scientific information to a diverse group of audiences
- Excellent communications and project management skills
- An innovative, passionate, and patient-focused perspective is key to success in this role
