About the Role
Future Capital is seeking a VP of Operations to lead day-to-day execution of the Wealth and Integrated Operations team and to serve as the trusted operational owner for our largest partner relationships. This role spans client onboarding, participant support, partner operations, and the processes that keep our managed account services running accurately and compliantly across all product lines. It also serves as the operational voice into Engineering and Product for FC's client-facing platform.
The ideal candidate combines operational experience in financial services with the executive presence and structured program management of a senior consulting engagement manager.
Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Operations
- Lead day-to-day execution of the Wealth and Integrated Operations team, including performance management, coaching, and development.
- Scale team structure and processes as Future Capital's participant base and product lines grow.
- Continually improve end-to-end client onboarding across all products, respecting each product's distinct fiduciary posture.
- Maintain and improve core operational systems and workflows, partnering with Engineering.
- Own the operational cadence for participant communications, in coordination with Marketing, Compliance, and Engineering.
- Identify process breakdowns and drive root-cause fixes rather than one-off patches.
Partner Operations & Engagement Management
- Serve as the operational owner and day-to-day engagement lead for large partner, distribution, and sub-advisory relationships, building relationships from working-team contacts through executive stakeholders.
- Program manage new partner onboarding, from technology integration through reporting, coordinating milestones, dependencies, and timelines across teams.
- Manage a portfolio of concurrent partner engagements, each with its own scope and cadence, using a consistent, structured engagement approach.
- Run recurring governance touchpoints with partners, including working sessions, status reviews, and steering-committee-style updates.
- Prioritize partner projects against one another based on business impact, urgency, and capacity, and proactively manage tradeoffs.
- Deliver transparent, executive-ready status reporting when conflicts, delays, or resourcing constraints arise, with a clear path to resolution and revised timelines.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for partner-facing operational issues, driving resolution with urgency and clear ownership.
- Act as the primary operations voice into Engineering and Product, translating operational pain points and ambiguous partner requirements into clear scope, specifications, and process flows.
- Facilitate internal working sessions to align proposed technical solutions with partner requirements before they are committed externally.
- Represent Operations in roadmap and prioritization discussions.
- Lead cross-functional teams (Engineering/Product, Compliance, reporting) through matrixed collaboration to deliver against commitments.
- Maintain a rigorous view of dependencies, risks, and open decisions across all workstreams, flagging issues before they affect delivery.
Compliance & Risk
- Partner with Compliance and Legal to ensure onboarding, operational processes, and partner operations meet regulatory and internal requirements.
- Proactively flag operational risk, particularly around product-line fiduciary distinctions.
- Report to the COO on team performance, operational KPIs, partner health, and trends.
- Contribute to broader operational strategy, including tooling evaluation and build-vs-buy decisions.
Qualifications
- 7+ years in operations leadership within financial services or a similar industry, with direct RIA or broker-dealer experience from an operations or trade execution perspective.
- Hands-on exposure to trading systems and trade execution workflows (order entry, rebalancing, settlement, reconciliation, or similar).
- Experience managing teams and cross-functional stakeholders in a regulated environment, including leading matrixed teams without formal authority.
- Proven track record managing complex, multi-stakeholder partner or client engagements involving technical integrations and reporting deliverables.
- Strong program and project management discipline, including running multi-workstream initiatives from scoping through execution, governance cadences, and prioritization of competing initiatives.
- Demonstrated ability to build trusted‑advisor relationships with senior and executive external stakeholders.
- Ability to translate operational workflows and ambiguous partner requirements into clear technical requirements for Engineering and Product.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting to leadership and external partners and managing expectations.
- Experience with Excel and relational databases.
- Bachelor's degree required.
Preferred
- Familiarity with retirement plan recordkeeping, custodial platforms, or account aggregation technology.
- Experience with reporting workflows and technical integrations (APIs, data feeds, or similar).
- Prior consulting or professional services experience (strategy, Big 4, or similar).
- PMP or similar project management certification.
What Success Looks Like
- Partner firms have a single, trusted point of contact for operational and project needs.
- New partner onboarding runs on schedule with clear, proactive communication.
- Competing priorities across partner engagements are managed with minimal surprises.
- Engineering and Product receive clearly scoped requirements and stay ahead of dependencies.
- Escalations are resolved quickly, and partners feel heard, informed, and supported.
- The operations team is performing well, scaling with growth, and fixing root causes rather than symptoms.
