Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Public Health, or related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years healthcare leadership experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years senior leadership in business development or network development.
  • Experience with value-based care models and ACOs.
  • Experience in hospice, home health, palliative or serious illness care preferred.
  • Experience with North Carolina CON regulations preferred.

AuthoraCare Collective is currently seeking a VP of Network and Business Development. This is a full-time hybrid position Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm.

Job Summary

The Vice President of Network and Business Development is a senior executive leader responsible for driving strategic growth, developing high-value partnerships, expanding market presence, and advancing value-based care initiatives across the organization's comprehensive continuum of serious illness services. This role serves as the principal architect of external relationships and network development, creating opportunities that enhance access, improve care coordination, strengthen referral pathways, and support sustainable organizational growth.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer and serving as a key member of the executive leadership team, the Vice President collaborates closely with C-Suite leaders, operational executives, clinical leadership, and strategic partners to identify, develop, and execute growth strategies that align with the organization's mission and long-term objectives.

The Vice President oversees business development, sales and referral operations, strategic partnerships, provider network development, health system integration, market expansion, provider practice acquisition initiatives, and growth strategies related to the organization's hospice, home health, GUIDE dementia program, Medicaid waiver services, home-based primary and palliative care services, hospice inpatient units, pediatric programs, counseling services, and participation as a convener in the LEAD ACO program.

Requirements
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business or Public Administration, Public Health, or related field required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive healthcare leadership experience across multiple health care settings.
  • Minimum of 5 years of senior leadership experience in business development, network development, physician relations, strategic growth, or healthcare partnerships.
  • Demonstrated success in healthcare market expansion, provider alignment, and strategic partnership development.
  • Experience working with value-based care models, accountable care organizations, managed care organizations, and population health initiatives.
  • Experience in hospice, home health, palliative care, primary care, senior care, post-acute care, or serious illness care required.
  • Experience leading physician practice partnerships, acquisitions, affiliations, or integration activities preferred.
  • Experience with North Carolina CON regulations and process preferred.

Other: Valid state-issued driver's license required. Must carry automobile liability insurance at limits required by agency. Must have own transportation.

Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Growth Leadership
  • Develop and execute comprehensive growth and market expansion strategies that advance organizational priorities and increase access to services across existing and emerging markets.
  • Identify new business opportunities, service line expansion initiatives, and innovative partnerships that strengthen the organization's position as a leader in serious illness care.
  • Collaborate with the CEO, COO, and executive leadership team to establish and monitor strategic growth objectives and performance metrics.
  • Evaluate market trends, demographic shifts, payer strategies, competitive forces, and regulatory developments to inform organizational growth priorities.
  • Lead strategic planning efforts related to network expansion, service development, and community presence.
  • Embed and leverage organizational differentiators and its continuum of care to drive strategic growth and profitability.
  • Evaluate CON opportunities and collaboratively develop competitive CON applications to position organization regionally.
Partnership and Network Development
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with health systems, physician groups, hospitals, long-term care organizations, managed care organizations, community organizations, and government agencies.
  • Build a comprehensive network of healthcare providers and community partners supporting the care of older adults, medically complex individuals, and children with serious illnesses.
  • Establish and evaluate partnerships that improve care coordination, elevate quality outcomes, support value-based care, and enhance patient access across the care continuum.
  • Advance partnerships that strengthen the organization's role in serious illness care delivery and population health management.
  • Report to executive leadership the total enterprise value of key partnerships across the service region.
Lead ACO Network Development and Valued-Base Care
  • Lead growth and network expansion strategies supporting the organization's role as a convener for the LEAD ACO program.
  • Recruit, engage, and retain provider organizations participating in value-based care initiatives.
  • Develop collaborative relationships with primary care practices, specialty providers, community organizations, post-acute partners, and other ACOs.
  • Identify opportunities to improve quality outcomes, patient engagement, care coordination, and financial performance through network development activities.
  • Partner with clinical and operational leaders to align network strategies with accountable care objectives.
Provider Practice Development
  • Establish and expand partnerships with physician practices, geriatric providers, primary care organizations, specialty providers, and facility-based practitioners.
  • Develop strategic relationships with providers serving older adults in home, outpatient, assisted living, skilled nursing, and long-term care settings.
  • Create referral and collaboration pathways that enhance patient access to hospice, home health, palliative care, dementia services, and home-based primary care.
  • Support integration of HouseCalls medical practice services within community provider networks.
Health System and Facility Integration
  • Develop and strengthen strategic relationships with hospitals, health systems, physician enterprises, post-acute providers, skilled nursing facilities, assisted living communities, and long-term care organizations.
  • Lead efforts to integrate organizational services into care delivery models across provider settings.
  • Partner with health systems to improve transitions of care, reduce avoidable utilization, and enhance patient outcomes through population and disease specific initiatives.
  • Negotiate and manage strategic agreements supporting shared growth opportunities and coordinated care initiatives.
Business Development and Sales Leadership
  • Provide executive leadership and oversight for community-based business development, sales operations, referral growth, and customer relationship management functions.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop teams of community liaisons, hospital liaisons, business development professionals, and market growth leaders.
  • Build a high-performing sales culture rooted in accountability, relationship management, operational excellence, and performance measurement.
  • Establish sales goals, growth targets, referral strategies, and market penetration objectives.
  • Develop sales infrastructure, performance analytics, and customer relationship management capabilities that support scalable growth.
  • Drive continuous improvement in referral conversion, partner engagement, and market development activities.
  • Integrate organizational business development plans and marketing plans to create synergy, focus, and alignment of resources and strategic focus.
  • Collaborate with operational and clinical leadership to align capacity with strategic growth focus areas.
Strategic Investments
  • Identify, evaluate, and cultivate provider practice acquisition opportunities that align with organizational growth and LEAD ACO objectives.
  • Lead efforts to develop relationships with potential provider practice acquisition targets, particularly geriatric, primary care, and value-based care physician practices throughout the state.
  • Conduct market assessments, preliminary evaluations, and strategic analyses supporting acquisition and affiliation decisions.
  • Partner with CFO, CEO, executive leadership, legal counsel, and operational teams throughout due diligence and integration processes.
  • Support post-acquisition integration planning and relationship development.
Community and Stakeholder Engagement
  • Expand the organization's visibility, reputation, and influence throughout the communities served.
  • Build strong relationships with community leaders, advocacy organizations, healthcare coalitions, payer organizations, and public agencies.
  • Represent the organization at professional associations, community events, and strategic stakeholder meetings.
  • Advance partnerships that address social determinants of health and improve community-based care delivery.
