Job description

Full-time / Direct Hire opportunity for VP of Global Engineering based in Omaha, NE

Job Description:

The Vice President, Global Engineering leads engineering for client's hosted SaaS applications, serving customers across the US and ANZ markets. This role owns platform and infrastructure engineering, automation, and delivery pipeline capability, and is accountable for the availability, performance, and security of client's hosted environments across on-premise, managed private cloud, and public cloud. The role sets engineering strategy and standards, owns how work is prioritized and delivered, and builds the capability needed to scale reliably as the business grows.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
  • Lead and develop a global, multi-region engineering team, building a culture of accountability, growth, and disciplined execution.
  • Own platform and infrastructure engineering, automation, and delivery pipeline investment, and the release process that governs how work reaches production: tested, packaged, instrumented, and secured before deployment.
  • Own the availability, performance, and security of client's hosted applications across on-premise, managed private cloud, and public cloud, delivering against defined SLAs and availability targets.
  • Set engineering strategy, standards, and architecture direction, ensuring consistency across regions and product lines.
  • Own the engineering operating model: how work is prioritized, sequenced, and tracked, and the scorecards that keep availability, incidents, mean time to resolution, change success rate, and delivery predictability visible.
  • Direct incident and change management aligned with ITIL practices, applying rigorous review, testing, and root-cause analysis so changes execute cleanly and recurring problems are permanently resolved.
  • Engineer for scale, resilience, and operational efficiency through redundancy, automation, infrastructure-as-code, observability, and reduction of technical debt and manual toil.
  • Execute engineering's security and compliance responsibilities in alignment with the direction set by the Information Security team, including frameworks such as ITIL, SOC 2, and NIST CSF.
  • Manage relationships with hosting, cloud, and technology vendors and delivery partners, holding them accountable to SLAs and outcomes while retaining ownership of strategy.
  • Partner with Product, Development, and internal IT leadership to forecast capacity, plan for growth, and align infrastructure investment with the broader roadmap.
  • Own workforce planning, hiring, and organizational design for engineering, sequencing roles against demonstrated demand.
  • Serve as the senior engineering voice to customers and executive leadership on operational health, risk, and what the organization can credibly commit to.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Proven ability to lead and grow a multi-region, 24x7 engineering team, with strong people-leadership skills and a track record of developing talent.
  • Deep technical foundation across cloud platforms, Linux/Unix systems, virtualization, networking, and modern DevOps/SRE practices, sufficient to set direction and evaluate technical decisions.
  • Strong track record operating a formal operating model: work prioritization, incident and change management (ITIL or similar), and metrics-based performance management.
  • Experience delivering against availability, reliability, and security commitments in a SaaS or hosted-application environment.
  • Working knowledge of IT service management and compliance frameworks relevant to SaaS operations (e.g., ITIL, SOC 2, NIST CSF), and the ability to partner effectively with an information security function.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate technical reality into clear business terms for executives.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering, cloud operations, or SaaS hosting, with at least 5 years leading engineering teams.
  • Experience in a multi-region or global operating environment strongly preferred.
