Job summary

Goodwin Recruiting is seeking a VP of Finance & Accounting to lead multi-entity accounting operations within a growing real estate organization. The role oversees general ledger, AR/AP, fixed assets, payroll, intercompany accounts, and tax-related processes, partnering with senior leadership to drive strategic financial objectives.

You will implement policy improvements, manage a team, and ensure accurate monthly close and compliant GAAP reporting across locations.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of Director-level accounting experience.
• Real estate industry experience is required.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required; Master's degree and/or CPA preferred.
• Proficiency with MS Office and ERP/accounting databases.

Responsibilities

• Oversee general ledger, AR, AP, debt/equity, and accounting processes across multiple entities.
• Supervise accounting staff and foster professional growth.
• Support treasury, cash flow management, and banking activities.
• Ensure timely close and GAAP-compliant financial reporting.

The VP of Finance & Accounting will oversee all key accounting functions within a complex multi-entity structure, playing a vital role in supporting operations, legal, and tax compliance while collaborating closely with senior leadership and operations teams.

VP of Finance & Accounting Benefits & Compensation

• Competitive base salary of $185,000-$195,000 plus 20% bonus potential

VP of Finance & Accounting Requirements & Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of Director-level accounting experience
• Strong background in General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, Payroll, Operations, Intercompany Accounts, Sales Tax, Structured Finance, and Management Reporting
• Real estate industry experience is required
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and ERP or other accounting database software
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required; Master's degree and/or CPA preferred
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex accounting concepts clearly and persuasively

VP of Finance & Accounting Preferred Background & Skills

VP of Finance & Accounting Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Oversee General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, Purchasing/Accounts Payable, Debt, Equity, and accounting processes across multiple companies and intercompany accounts
• Manage, train, and evaluate accounting staff to foster professional growth
• Supervise treasury, banking, and cash flow management activities
• Analyze monthly operating results and provide actionable insights to leadership
• Collaborate with operations teams and property personnel to support revenue accounting and procurement
• Ensure accurate and timely financial close and reporting, including annual financial statements prepared under US GAAP
• Support tax preparation and audit processes, including vendor 1099 compliance
• Actively participate in integrating accounting processes for new locations and provide subject matter expertise on accounting systems and software
