About Your Role
As VP of AI, you will lead Rocket Lawyer’s AI strategy and execution, driving innovation and scaling AI-powered legal solutions, with a primary focus on Rocket Copilot. Rocket Copilot aims to empower individuals, small business owners, landlords, and others by combining cutting-edge AI and in-house expertise to simplify legal processes and improve decision-making. Your responsibilities include developing and overseeing ML, LLMs, RAG, and prompt engineering to enhance our platform. You will lead a team of AI engineers, data engineers, managers, and ML specialists, working closely with product, engineering, and legal teams.

How You Will Make a Difference Day To Day

1. Develop and execute Rocket Lawyer’s AI strategy, including LLM fine-tuning, prompt engineering, RAG pipelines, and scalable AI deployment, focusing on Rocket Copilot.
2. Own the AI capabilities roadmap, ensuring alignment with business goals and user needs.
3. Lead design and implementation of AI/ML models, NLP applications, and generative AI for legal tech solutions.
4. Drive innovation in AI-driven legal assistance, contract analysis, and conversational document generation.
5. Build and lead a high-performing AI team, fostering culture of innovation and excellence.
6. Collaborate with engineering to integrate AI models into production systems at scale.
7. Ensure AI models are ethical, explainable, unbiased, and compliant with privacy standards.
8. Evaluate and implement AI infrastructure, MLOps, and cloud deployments.
9. Stay updated on AI trends, research, and emerging LLM techniques.
10. Work cross-functionally with legal, product, and customer teams to deliver user-friendly AI solutions.

What You’ll Need

• 10+ years in AI, machine learning, and data science, with 5+ years in leadership roles.
• Proven experience leading LLM projects, including fine-tuning, RAG, and prompt engineering.
• Deep expertise in NLP, deep learning, and deployment at scale.
• Hands-on experience with LLMs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Cohere, etc.), vector databases, and MLOps frameworks.
• Strong skills in Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, LangChain, and cloud services.
• Experience deploying AI models in production with security and scalability.
• Understanding of data pipelines, engineering, and feature engineering for ML.
• Experience with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, or Azure).
• Exceptional leadership, strategic thinking, and AI adoption skills.
• Strong communication skills to translate AI concepts into business value.

A plus if you have

• Experience in legal tech, fintech, or regulated industries.
• Knowledge of legal NLP, contract automation, and compliance AI solutions.
• Experience with AI safety, governance, and responsible AI practices.
