Job summary

Energy Northwest in Richland, Washington, seeks the Vice President Nuclear Development to lead the strategic direction of the organization's nuclear portfolio. This role oversees planning and execution of multi-billion-dollar facilities, licensing efforts, and development activities for public utility districts and technology partners.

Qualifications

GENERAL SUMMARY

Serve as a key member of the Energy Services & Development (ES&D) management team, which determines the strategic direction, operating philosophy, and internal policy of the organization. Provide leadership in the area of responsibility by creating challenging expectations, improving staff effectiveness, and giving timely and effective feedback.

The Vice President Nuclear Development - New Nuclear reports directly to the SVP/Chief Commercial Officer. This position is responsible for Energy Northwest's (EN's) portfolio of nuclear development projects. This includes responsibility for business development activities, planning and execution of multi-billion-dollar new nuclear facilities, and contracted activities for public utility districts and nuclear technology developers (e.g., site characterization, licensing, nuclear program development, etc.).

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Provide leadership and management direction with the creation of the vision, strategic objectives, and key business initiatives for Nuclear Development.
  • Apply and support the application of sound leadership principles and techniques.
  • Personally demonstrate and place an expectation that Energy Northwest core values be continually applied in day-to-day activities.
  • Managing vendors and supplemental personnel to the highest industry standards
  • Create an awareness of identifying project efficiencies and cost reduction methods to achieve our strategic goals for cost of power.
  • Further safety and environmental protection awareness and achieve the goals identified in our strategic plan.
  • Develop current and future leaders through succession planning, use of developmental plans, and active monitoring and coaching.
  • Work to eliminate organizational barriers, which limit our successes. Ensure proper engagement and coordination with appropriate EN corporate and Columbia Generating Station organizations and leadership.
  • Support employee development through various development processes, including creating individual developmental plans based on feedback from the Leadership Assessments and other tools.
  • When designated, act for and successfully discharge the duties and responsibilities of others at the Vice President level or higher.
  • Participate in industry groups such as EPRI, NEI, and PNUCC.
  • Interface with prominent stakeholders, including leadership of public utility districts, the EN executive board, and technology vendor executives.
  • Manage financial consultants and other contractors for new nuclear power plants.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related science, from an accredited college or university and a minimum of 15 years progressive management/leadership experience, including preparing and delivering oral presentations to board levels and to internal/external organizations.
  • Previous experience with large ($40M+) engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) projects.
Pay Range

$255,000.00 - $340,000.00 Annual Midpoint: $297,500.00

Typically, selected candidates are hired between the minimum and midpoint of the range, based on applicable experience and qualifications, market rate, internal equity, and budgetary allowances.

Offers will be negotiated based on each candidate's qualifications.

Incentive Compensation

This role may be eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan. Incentives are earned based on employee performance against defined metrics and company goals.
