Job summary

Beam Therapeutics Inc. seeks a VP, Clinical Development to serve as the medical lead for our metabolic gene therapies. The role reports to the EVP, Head of Clinical Development and will shape vision, priorities, and alignment across Beam’s internal metabolic programs.

The role requires MD/DO with 15+ years in clinical development, strong regulatory experience, and a track record of leading physicians and scientists. Hybrid Cambridge presence is required, with on-site work several times per week.

Qualifications

• MD/DO or equivalent ex-US medical degree with 15+ years’ experience.
• 10+ years clinical development experience in industry is required.
• Experience in metabolic diseases or rare diseases is desirable.
• Proven track record with regulatory authorities.
• Experience leading teams of physicians and clinical scientists.
• Ability to navigate fast-changing environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead vision for Beam's metabolic franchise strategy.
• Develop near- and long-term goals aligned with the strategic vision.
• Provide medical counsel and scientific guidance to teams involved in metabolic therapies.
• Develop integrated clinical/regulatory strategies to support regulatory approvals and commercialization.
• Support cross-functional metabolic teams and mentor reports.
• Design development plans, target-product profiles, and protocols aligned to strategies.
• Oversee planned and ongoing clinical trials and patient safety oversight.
• Engage with Regulatory Agencies and prepare materials for meetings and conferences.
• Collaborate with R&D and Business Development on metabolic initiatives.
• Work with research teams to advance next-gen programs.
• Represent Beam in external forums and advisory boards.
