Job summary

WSP is seeking a Vice President, Mechanical Engineering to lead our Atlanta office’s healthcare design practice. The role requires a licensed Mechanical Engineer with extensive healthcare design experience and a track record in technical leadership and business development.

You will guide complex projects from design through construction, manage multi-disciplinary teams, and build client relationships while ensuring compliance with codes and safety standards in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline.
• 12+ years of relevant post-education experience in engineering, mechanical, and infrastructure design.
• Engineer license required (multi-state preferred).
• Extensive knowledge of mechanical design, particularly healthcare.
• Known in the local community with an extensive network.
• Proficient with mechanical engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, and permitting.
• Experience with mechanical planning, design, and construction management; renovation and new design projects.
• Knowledge of engineering laws, codes, regulations, and record-keeping requirements.
• Strong ability to coordinate and direct others to safely complete tasks.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate, review and approve mechanical design plans, ensuring data integrity and compliance with codes.
• Apply high-level engineering techniques to identify improvements across project phases.
• Plan and incorporate future-ready design and operating strategies.
• Involved from inception to completion in the design and construction management of mechanical systems.
• Oversee cross-functional teams, budgets, hours, expenses, and technical analyses.
• Prepare data and visualizations for interpretation of complex data and findings.
• Prepare comprehensive technical reports and presentations to address design/construction issues.
• Manage client relationships and provide input on pursuit efforts.
• Develop relationships with key stakeholders and maintain ethical project conduct.
