Job summary

BlackSky is seeking a dynamic Vice President, Legal to lead a team providing comprehensive legal support across product development, U.S. and international government contracting, commercial deals, and operations.

The role entails working closely with operations and contracting teams and may involve international negotiations. The candidate should have a Juris Doctorate with 10+ years’ experience, active clearance, and proven experience in space/defense sectors and government contracting.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate required with at least 10 years’ experience.
• Experience in space or defense sectors is beneficial.
• US government contracts experience at top law firms, government agencies or in-house departments is required.
• Licensed to practice law and in good standing in at least one jurisdiction.
• Experience negotiating and drafting complex government and commercial contracts, esp. licensing and software agreements.
• Strong leadership to manage a small legal team and collaborate cross-functionally.

Responsibilities

• Lead a small internal legal team and oversee regulatory, export, US government and international contracts.
• Serve as senior legal advisor to GC and leadership on all legal matters.
• Provide counsel on legal, business and operational issues to the Leadership Team.
• Represent the company’s legal interests before the Board, regulators and auditors.
