Job summary

At BGBx, a leading independent commercial solutions partner for pharmaceutical and life science clients, we seek a VP, Group Art Supervisor to guide creative presentation, client relations, and team oversight. You’ll drive brand design concepts and ensure on-brand execution across multiple brands.

You will report to the Associate Creative Director and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet ambitious deadlines while elevating the agency’s creative standards in pharma advertising.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant area preferred.
  • 6-8 years of experience in a fast-paced pharma advertising environment.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.
  • Strong supervisory, management, and decision-making abilities.
  • Outstanding design and conceptual skills, including typography, color, photography, and art.
  • Knowledge of print and digital production processes.
  • Proven organizational and analytical capabilities.
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Concept, execute, and oversee design for multiple brands as a brand lead.
  • Maintain on-brand guidelines and strategic alignment.
  • Contribute to strategic and tactical planning.
  • Serve as key client contact for applicable brands.

  • Identify and resolve factors causing crises and deadline risks.
  • Keep designers stocked with resources and talent for projects.

Position Overview

The VP, Group Art Supervisor is a senior-level creative department position responsible for providing direct support to the Creative Director, particularly in the areas of creative presentation, client relations, and team creative oversight. The group art supervisor must possess superior visual conceptual skills and knowledge of pharmaceutical requirements/terminology as well as vendor requirements/capabilities.

This position reports to the Associate Creative Director.

  • Concept, execute, and oversee design and concepts for multiple brands as a brand lead
  • Keep all work consistent and on brand guidelines and strategy
  • Contribute to strategic and tactical planning
  • Key client contact for applicable brands
  • Raise creative consciousness of agency through internal presentations and leadership
  • Establish credibility with clients at all levels through advanced thinking and clear communication
  • Helps establish and maintain the highest possible standards of reproduction for all digital, print, audio/visual and collateral materials produced by the agency
  • Monitors the quality of finished mechanical/digital art and conceptual materials produced by internal and freelance artists
  • Provides direction and guidance to department subordinates
  • Informs and advises the Creative Director on the status of departmental affairs, including all design-related computer hardware/software needs (upgrades, equipment needs/problems, training, etc.)
  • Encourages the professional development of department staff
  • Consults with the Creative Director, as well as account service, traffic and other agency team members as necessary to achieve agency objectives
  • Help to identify and eliminate factors creating a crisis, and minimize recurrence
  • Meets established deadlines or provides reasonable notice to the Creative Director of special circumstances requiring deadline extension
  • Consults with Creative Director and agency services manager regarding staffing needs
  • Maintains a current list of available freelance artists, web designers, art and photography stock houses, photographers and other contributory talent and vendors
  • Engage in personal development necessary to stay current in advertising
  • Researches to become more familiar with clients’ businesses
Desired Skills And Experience
  • A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant area preferred
  • 6-8 years of experience in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, preferably in pharma advertising
  • Fantastic presentation and communication skills
  • Excellent supervisory, management, judgment, and decision‑making skills
  • Excellent design and conceptual skills, including a highly developed overall design/concept aptitude as well as typography, color, photography, and art
  • Passionate about design and visual communication
  • Knowledge of print and digital production
  • Demonstrated organizational and analytical skills
  • Proven ability to multitask, handle stressful situations, and deadline pressures
  • Excellent in Adobe Creative Suite. Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to prioritize workflow and redirect agency projects to meet competing and changing deadline

Salary Range: $150,000 - $180,000
