Job summary

Heitman, a global real estate investment management firm, seeks a Vice President in Chicago to lead the FOA team providing accounting, finance, valuation, and portfolio/asset management support. The role requires a trusted leader with strong analytical and communication skills, capable of guiding professional staff and coordinating with internal and external partners.

The VP will oversee quarterly/annual financial reporting, complex accounting transactions, and valuation analyses, while driving

Qualifications

• 10+ years of real estate accounting and finance experience.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required.
• CPA designation desirable.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
• Experience supervising staff directly or indirectly.
• Valuation and/or Argus modeling experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee quarterly and annual financial reports and workpapers from third-party fund administrator.
• Lead in review and final approval of complex accounting transactions (acquisitions, dispositions, waterfall calculations).
• Review IRRs and time-weighted returns and provide analytical observations to Portfolio & Asset Management.
• Coordinate and analyze quarterly property and debt valuations across teams.
• Develop and implement fund/account-level strategies and improvements.
• Mentor and develop staff; address staffing needs and performance issues.
• Lead cross-functional collaboration to improve processes and tools.
