Job summary

Crum & Forster is seeking a Vice President, ESL & MC Programs to lead origination, program management, product development, and underwriting for employer stop loss and related lines within the Medical Business Unit. The role emphasizes strategic leadership and cross-functional collaboration across underwriting, actuary, and operations.

The successful candidate will mentor underwriters, drive profitability, and shape portfolio strategies while ensuring compliance with applicable requirements.

Responsibilities

• Implement strategy to drive profitability, retention, and written premium goals of the MBU.
• Evaluate portfolio performance, define strategic changes, and oversee execution of the portfolio in line with division objectives.
• Demonstrate understanding and use of underwriting tools and coordinate with actuaries in development, testing and maintenance.
• Perform underwriting reviews and make independent decisions per guidelines while maintaining client communications and documentation.
• Develop and maintain underwriting rules, risk management principles and compliance with corporate requirements and state/federal laws.
• Establish and manage data flows from client companies to monitor results vs targets.
• Develop annual business goals for assigned products and client partners.
• Identify new business opportunities through development activities aligned to the organization's strategy.
• Maintain in-depth knowledge of department products and articulate the department’s value proposition.
• Evaluate renewal submissions and perform underwriting of new business submissions; conduct client company reviews for strategic feedback.
• Monitor market trends, products, competitors and emerging threats to identify business potential.
• Drive product development with respect to distribution considerations.
