Job summary

Medline seeks a visionary Vice President of Ecommerce and Marketing Technology to own the digital commerce and marketing platforms as revenue-generating systems. Qualifications

  • 15+ years in enterprise IT, digital commerce, or large-scale systems leadership.
  • 7+ years leading managers and senior technical leaders in complex, matrixed organizations.
  • Led an enterprise ecommerce migration or replatforming, including architecture, data migration, cutover, stabilization, and platform consolidation.
  • Experience with commercetools or a comparable composable, API-first platform and strong integration, data architecture, and modernization expertise.
  • Proven ability to set strategy and secure executive support for a funded roadmap.
  • Substantial vendor, contract, system-integrator, and software-partner management experience.

Job Summary

The Vice President of Ecommerce and Marketing Technology owns Medline’s digital commerce and marketing platforms as revenue-generating systems. This leader sets technology strategy and ensures the ecosystem is reliable, secure, integrated, scalable, and aligned with business priorities. Central to the One Medline.com, Personalized strategy, the role unifies separate platforms and tools into one digital ecosystem that helps customers find, evaluate, buy from, and return to Medline while reducing duplication and complexity. The role partners with Marketing, Ecommerce, Sales, Data & Analytics, Supply Chain, and Enterprise Architecture and represents IT with commercial leadership. Success is measured by revenue enablement, adoption, reliability, simplification, and speed to market.

Key Responsibilities
  • Digital Technology Strategy
  • Job Description Own the multi-year strategy and funded roadmap across ecommerce, MarTech, content, personalization, customer data, and sales training.
  • Manage the portfolio around business value, scalability, dependencies, investment choices, and measurable outcomes.
  • Evaluate composable architectures, emerging vendors, buy-versus-build decisions, and AI opportunities against enterprise standards.
  • Ecosystem Consolidation & Platform Simplification
  • Unify customer-facing platforms, storefronts, applications, and tools into one Medline.com ecosystem with shared journeys, components, services, and governance.
  • Retire redundant capabilities in sequenced waves that protect customer and revenue continuity.
  • Ecommerce Platform Ownership
  • Own ecommerce strategy, roadmap, delivery, operations, and continuous optimization across product data, pricing, contracts, search, cart, checkout, orders, and account management.
  • Lead major replatforming and customer-journey modernization, including architecture, migration, cutover, stabilization, and legacy decommissioning.
  • Marketing Technology Ownership
  • Own the MarTech lifecycle and integrate campaign, content, personalization, customer data, automation, analytics, and consent capabilities into one connected stack.
  • Enable scalable marketing self-service while rationalizing overlapping tools and spend.
  • Architecture & Integration
  • Define reference architectures, APIs, data pipelines, shared objects, and integration standards with Enterprise Architecture.
  • Connect commerce, ERP and order management, CRM, CMS, CDP, marketing automation, personalization, analytics, consent, and core customer, product, pricing, inventory, order, content, and asset data.
  • Delivery & Operations
  • Run an integrated roadmap and backlog using the right mix of internal teams, strategic partners, system integrators, and offshore resources.
  • Ensure availability, performance, security, resiliency, peak readiness, SLAs, technical debt management, and lifecycle planning.
  • Use AI across delivery to improve speed, quality, traceability, and adoption while reducing rework.
  • Governance & Enablement
  • Establish governance for configuration, customization, data use, access, vendors, privacy, consent, accessibility, and regulatory compliance without slowing delivery.
  • Promote self-service and reuse through shared components, design systems, documentation, reusable assets, and communities of practice.
  • Data, Analytics & Emerging Capabilities
  • Use trusted enterprise data to connect marketing engagement through digital orders and enable consistent analytics and reporting.
  • Measure adoption, growth, efficiency, simplification, quality, and speed to market; scale governed AI capabilities only when production-ready and supportable.
  • Strategic Partner, Vendor & Financial Management
  • Own portfolio budgeting, forecasting, cost optimization, licensing, consumption, and implementation spend.
  • Lead vendor selection, contracting, and performance management across software and delivery partners.
  • Leadership & Organization
  • Lead a multi-layer organization of directors, managers, engineers, architects, and product owners across ecommerce and MarTech.
Qualifications Required
  • 15+ years in enterprise IT, digital commerce, platform engineering, or large-scale business systems leadership, including customer-facing revenue platforms.
  • 7+ years leading managers and senior technical leaders in complex, matrixed organizations.
  • Led an enterprise ecommerce migration or replatforming, including architecture, data migration, cutover, stabilization, and platform consolidation.
  • Experience with commercetools or a comparable composable, API-first platform and strong integration, API, data architecture, and modernization expertise.
  • Proven ability to set strategy and secure executive support for a funded roadmap.
  • Substantial vendor, contract, system-integrator, and software-partner management experience.
Preferred
  • B2B or distribution ecommerce experience, including contract pricing, customer-specific catalogs, punchout, and complex order workflows.
  • Healthcare or regulated-industry experience in a large, matrixed enterprise.
  • Experience with personalization and with CDP, CMS, CRM, marketing automation, digital asset management, consent, and privacy platforms.
  • Experience integrating AI or advanced analytics into production customer-facing platforms.

The anticipated salary range for this position: $203,000.00 - $305,000.00 Annual The actual salary will vary based on applicant’s location, education, experience, skills, and abilities. Medline will not pay less than the applicable minimum wage or salary threshold. Our benefit package includes health insurance, life and disability, 401(k) contributions, paid time off, etc., for employees working 30 or more hours per week on average. For employees working less than 30 hours per week, benefits include 401(k) contributions as well as access to the Employee Assistance Program, Employee Resource Groups and the Employee Service Corp.
