Job summary

HarbourVest Partners is seeking a Vice President of Data Engineering to lead strategy, execution, and scaled delivery of the private equity data platform. This senior role combines hands-on architecture with mentoring senior engineers to deliver complex systems.

You will own end-to-end platform outcomes including architecture, delivery, reliability, and adoption, while partnering with investment teams to enable informed decisions.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of data engineering and software delivery experience preferred.
• 5+ years of technical project leadership experience, partnering with product, application, and operations teams.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve a production-grade, cloud-based data platform for sourcing, diligence, portfolio monitoring, reporting, and analytics.
• Lead architecture and design decisions across modern data stacks like Snowflake, DBT, orchestration tools, and Azure.
• Ensure data pipelines are reliable, scalable, and production-ready with clear data contracts and governance.
• Mentor and scale a high-performing data engineering team with strong ownership and accountability.
• Drive multi-functional delivery with investment, finance, and operational partners to create usable data products.
