Salary Range: $185,000 - $278,000

The Opportunity

The North America Data Organization develops and implements organizational data strategy, leading data and analytics capabilities to enable better business outcomes, and fostering innovation in data usage across QBE NA. The team ensures effective data leverage for business value through collaboration across teams.

The VP, Data Governance & Innovation Leader will oversee the development, implementation, and oversight of data governance processes, standards, and policies to promote data innovation and mitigate risks. This role emphasizes next-generation capabilities, automation, and privacy-enhancing technologies, working closely with Risk, Legal, Privacy, and Group teams to align local and global data governance efforts. The leader will challenge teams to view data governance as a tool for innovation and will report to the Head of Data, being a member of the NA Data Leadership Team.

Primary Responsibilities
  1. Operationalize and optimize the NA Data Governance Program, including the NA AI Governance Policy, collaborating with Data, Risk, and Group teams to ensure practical support for business priorities.
  2. Assess current data practices and develop a governance program aligned with the restructured NA business model.
  3. Partner with teams to improve data inventory, lineage, classification, and filtering.
  4. Provide guidance for technology and practice improvements to meet governance and risk objectives.
  5. Develop control structures and manage issues related to data governance, escalating risks as needed.
  6. Offer expertise on governance during data projects to ensure compliance.
  7. Drive innovation in data governance with a focus on automation and privacy technologies, collaborating with IT and enterprise architecture.
  8. Facilitate communication forums to promote data literacy and compliance.
  9. Act as a data-driven change agent to foster organizational understanding of governance as a driver for responsible innovation.
Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience

Experience: 10+ years relevant experience

  • Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Ability to translate strategic goals into governance requirements
  • Extensive experience in data governance, privacy, management, and strategy
  • Experience with privacy-enhancing technologies (PETs)
  • Proven ability to work with technical and business teams on critical data solutions
  • Comfort with ambiguity and fast-paced environments
  • Project management and delivery skills
