Summary

The VP of Data will lead and execute the organization’s data strategy, focusing on ensuring that data is available, consistent, reliable, secure, and timely to support business objectives. This role will drive the adoption of data-centric practices across the organization, collaborating with business and IT teams to enhance data governance, management, and utilization. The VP of Data will play a pivotal role in fostering a data-driven culture and helping the organization leverage data to drive innovation, growth, and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Lead Data Strategy: Oversees the organization’s data initiatives, ensuring alignment with the business goals and driving digital transformation.
  • Data Governance: Establishes and manages data governance frameworks to ensure data quality, security, and compliance across the organization.
  • Data Team Leadership: Lead and manage a team of data engineers, architects, analysts, and governance specialists, ensuring alignment with the data strategy. Oversee team performance, set clear goals, and provide mentorship to deliver high-quality data solutions.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Works closely with both Business and IT teams to drive data initiatives, ensuring data is accessible in a useful and actionable format for all departments.
  • Innovation through Data: Assists business leaders in utilizing data-centric technologies and approaches to solve business challenges, such as growth, cost reduction, and compliance.
  • Bridge Between Business and Technology: Serves as a key communicator and collaborator, aligning business and technology teams with a unified vision for data strategies and platforms.
  • Data-Driven Culture: Fosters a culture where data is central to decision-making processes, promoting data literacy and ensuring business teams understand the potential of data.
  • Roadmap Creation: Develops and maintains a data strategy roadmap that delivers incremental business value through continuous data initiatives.
  • Focus on Business Capabilities: Emphasizes the practical applications of data, helping the organization unlock value through advanced data analytics and insights.
  • Cost Efficiency: Identifies and implements strategies to reduce data management costs while increasing the value derived from data assets.
  • Continuous Improvement: Enhances the methods by which the organization collects, manages, and uses data, ensuring alignment with evolving business needs.
  • Data Integrity and Quality: Strengthens data integrity and improves the metrics and processes used to measure data quality across the organization.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • 4-year college degree in information technology or equivalent experience. Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Deep knowledge of data architecture – understand how data is structured, and how to verify its accuracy, accessibility, security, reliability, and availability.
  • Business acumen – identify ways in which data can be leveraged to support broader business initiatives.
  • Technical implementation knowledge – the ability to create business cases and articulate technical initiatives related to data available to the enterprise.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Experience in information management programs and presenting to C-Suite.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.

Pay Range: $250,000 - $300,000. Base pay ranges are estimated. Actual base pay will be based on education, experience, location, certifications, skill set, and any other relevant factors. Incentive/variable pay opportunities are in addition to base pay.
